It would be dependent on those who entered the Capitol building. Those who protested outside and did not enter the Capitol were exercising their first amendment rights and they had every right to do so.Really? The "vandalism" for those on Jan 6 would be dependent on the actual damage amounts caused by each actor, right?
It comes down to the fact that people scaled the wall and broke windows to enter the Capitol. They were sentenced in a court of law. Trump pardoned them saying they have suffered enough. So if a Democrat wins in 2028 and pardons anyone who is a Tesla vandal saying they have suffered enough is that ok? I don't think so. Neither is right.
What if a liberal mob breaks into the Capitol because they oppose Trump's policies? If they get sentenced to jail, which they should be, is it ok for a democrat president in 2028 to pardon them? No. It should never be ok. The power of the pardon should be taken away from the president. If you are sentenced you need to serve that sentence. Can't do the time, don't do the crime. There is a slippery slope here that democrats will absolutely exploit when they regain power.
At some point in time all of what I am saying will happen. Just like I argued with democrats when Harry Reid changed the rules for confirming judges. I told my democrat friends that it would come back to haunt them. And it did big time. The more rules and barriers that are broken down, the more the opposition party will exploit it for their gain.
