How are Adidas for running usually? Those are my typical go-to sneaker type shoes.

Funny I dont think I know anyone who runs in them..nike's mostly. maybe one saucony, a couple of vibrams wearers, couple of brooks wearers and a couple asics devotees..cant think of a single adidas wearer

I started doing the C25K program recently for running and my shoes are awful. Reading some of the older threads on here (can't find anything in the last few years) I should hit up a specialty running store, get my feet checked out so I can buy a shoe that supports them correctly.

So are there any stores that do this (well) closer than Annapolis? I was going to make the trip up to Fleet Feet this weekend, but if there is someone closer that does a quality job I'd much rather do that instead.

I haven't found a decent store anywhere closer than Annapolis. Have you looked into Charm City? They were fantastic. My feet have never felt better in a running shoe thanks to them. Great service, lots of knowledge, and getting a test walk & run on the treadmill were all great.

:howdy: I run in them. I like them because they are light, and it doesn't hurt that they are super bright.

Week 4... you are my bitch.

At least on the third attempt with temperatures 15 degrees cooler than the previous two tries.

Now to not face plant in my dinner. Oof.

nooo you should never run in those!

Specialty running stores are a good idea if you have the time but I don't thinkt hey are neccessary. Runners all have diff ideas about what they like to run in best, and all I have talked to, myself included, found them through trial and error.

if you have a problem with shin splints, its generally better to get a more flexible shoe. Keep in mind that the more flexible ones can cause some foot pain in the beginnning esp if you are used to stiffer sole shoes day to day...thats not a problem, its adjustment. Same with hip pain, more flexible soled shoes.

Trail and error can be an expensive and painful way to do it if you are not lucky enough to find the right shoe pretty quick.

My first experience with a running shoe store was in Hawaii and after checking my stride and fitting me in several shoes, I settled on Asics Kayano-Gels which I wore from (IIRC) version 7 all the way up to version 17. I burned through a lot of those shoes with no major complaints.
Went to Annapolis a couple of years ago and got re-checked and while the Asics were still working fine I asked about another shoe...possibly one made in the USA. Brooks was the only one who made a shoe that worked for me that are made in the US so I went with them and have not had a problem.

They made #1 running shoe several years back.. but I think that was when they were made in the US..

But TRY to find a shoe now that is.

While not all Brooks are made in the US, some are. If you look on the box it will indicate where they are made and I always select ones made in the USA. :buddies:

Hey where can I find a track in the Lexington Park area? I drove around Great Mills HS and they don't seem to have one. Thanks.

I totally agree with this. I do tons of running and I've been doing it for a very long time. Go to a running store, if you want, and listen to what they say but keep an open mind. Same with reading running shoe reviews. There is not a perfect shoe for all runners.

I'm not particularly brand loyal. I like some shoes from Brooks, Nikes, and (my favorite) Innov-8's but I've gotten shoes from each that just didn't work out.

It sounds expensive but it isn't that bad. You can get away with a less-than-perfect shoe for your C25K training. Just stick to shoes that are specifically designed for running.

And, seriously, if you're a size 8 and open to this idea, I will gladly send you a few pairs of my shoes that didn't work out for me. PM me. I have a small collection.

Kudos for doing the C25K program! I think it's a great program and I love to watch people go through it.

I have neighbors where I live who run barefoot. I have thought going out to the side of the road and asking them if they needed money for shoes or something. Heck I can't stand walking to the mailbox and stepping on pebbles and these folks run for miles on asphalt.

There's a guy in my neighborhood that does this occasionally even in the winter.

I also work with someone that pushes barefoot running as though it will cure every ailment. He often displays his injuries with pride.

Ya We have 3-4 that I have noticed. One older fella, and yes I have seen him in winter. And one attractive, young blond girl, about 21 YO I am guessing. Then a couple others I can't remember.

LOL When I mow the lawn I even go out and use the leaf blower to clean the area right in front of the house REALLY well. I don't want anything to make that young lady decided to go running somewhere else. No pebbles whatsoever when I get done.
