I guess I should have kept reading, huh? :blushing:

In Waldorf, they used to have a rope swing underneath the bridge/railroad tracks (just after Taco Bell). When I was younger stupid, my friends and I would swing all day, and when a train came, we'd actually try to TOUCH the train! :faint: Thank goodness none of us were ever injured, but I look back now and can't help but  myself.
I don't think he mentions it on the website, I kinda browsed around for it. The article was in Cosmo I think, I'm not sure (I stumbled upon it days after the accident, which was weird). He probably doesn't mention it on the website because he's seen as an inspiration, and he doesn't want to muddy the waters.

Hey, where did you live over there? I grew up on Wilson, off of Garner and close to that bridge. I never knew about that rope swing though. It's probably a good thing I didn't.

I should revise my earlier post: I lived on Wilson. I still haven't grown up yet.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this thread. I'd be curious to know if they had to amputate above or below the knees.

This is a pretty sad story, a friend of mine used to date the mother, if its the same family that is. the boy has a twin sister, h has been sick quite a while now, and it seems like the Dr's just missed a pretty easy diagnosis.

First names?
I want to say Jen maybe and maybe Valerie? I could be way off though. I can see their faces but we weren't in the same circles so I can't remember their names.

St Marys Hospital?
I'm gessing not.. but I had a VERY similar expereince with Calvert with my youngest daughter. St Mary's did what they were supposed to do, and fixed the problem and cured my daughter in time ...

He can live a normal life, it's just going to take time an effort on the part of a lot of people. I've done a lot of research since my brother's accident, and he speaks to a lot of peer counselors that live awesome lives with prosthetics. I just read an article about a boy who lost both legs and one arm when he was 15 and is thriving. The emotional battle will be the toughest part. As far as the pediatrician is concerned, he may have sent them to the ER hoping they could get bloodwork results ASAP, rather than waiting on them as is usually the case in a regular doctor's office.
The only problem is, this child will probably never get the level of care your brother is currently getting.. rehab, mental health.. being among others like himself..

My heart really goes out to this family.. and I do hope the best for them and their child.. Heartbreaking to think this could have been prevented by a simple friggin bloodtest.. AFTER they sue the dumazz he needs to go to jail.

and one more thing (big surprise).. my oldest son was taken by ambulance with what appeared to be stroke like symptoms.. when the ambulance got there I was on the phone with my oldest daughter and told her under NO circumstances are they to take him to Calvert.. when my daughter put the phone down to talk to the EMT's they were already on the phone to St Mary's ER, and they did as we asked.

My son is fine, they tested him throughly, CAT scan X-rays, lab work.. the whole gamut... but it seems my oldest boy may have just experienced his very first SEVERE migraine. Loss of vision, partial paralysis on one side of his body etc.. Freaked him and us out pretty good, but again St MAry's did fantastic.. they listened, they tested and they treated... with the utmost of care and professionalism..

I REALLY wanted to think my daughter wasn't the norm for Calvert Hospital but apparently I was wrong.
There's one doctor there that is an extremely arrogant snob. I don't know, but I would bet that he is the same one that saw this kid, as well as yours. It is so consistent with what I have seen.

Every other doctor we have dealt with at Calvert has been great, so I'm hoping it really is just one problem.
