Safety Patrol

My daughter came home so excited on Wednesday because she is a safety patrol. She had to write a paper on why she would make a good safey patrol. I'm so happy that they picked her. I told her not to act like Bobby on the Brady bunch when he became a patrol it went to his head and he started turning everybody in. Anyway just thought I'd share.

She is 10 also. So far she is having fun. We'll see once she has to turn somebody in.

Am I the only person here that doesn't know what the hell "safety patrol" is?
Safety Patrols are typically 5th grade students who walk home. They wear neon orange sash-like things made of plastic (though it may have changed in the last dozen years) with a cute metal "Safety Patrol" badge. They direct students to slow down, obey the rules, and they move cones for buses as they come and go. You have to be a walker because it requires that you stay a few minutes later, usually after all the buses have left. I don't think anyone is ever turned down if they volunteer for it.

:nerd: here too. In the fifth grade I was appointed to be a safety patrol. Had the white belt but no badge. In the sixth grade, I was promoted to Sergeant and I got an orange belt and a badge. I was cool.
