I have a giant salmon half a fish filet thingy

what the heck do I do with it. I detest fishy fish so it needs to be covered in something.

Also, I do not do fruit on meat so no lemon anything.

If you salmon is really "fishy" then you might consider getting rid of it. Fresh salmon has a very faint if any "fishy" smell at all. Looking for recipe suggestions? Well, try marinating it in the soy sauce of your choice; regular or low sodium; for a couple hours, in the fridge. Then set it out, let it come to room temp., then add seasoning; garlic, red pepper, whatever.....then wrap in aluminum foild and place on medium/low heat on a gas grill; or just put the wrapped fish on the coals of a charcoal grill.
Check for desired "doneness"; flaky is best; and VIOLA!.....grilled salmon.

Salmon should not be fishy. If it is, throw it away.

Otherwise dredge it in flour, egg, then cornmeal and fry it. Yum!

In My Opinion
Salmon, as with any fish, should be treated as garbage, it should be thrown away and the person that purchased it should be slapped.

She's only afraid it'll be fishy. She's convinced anything with fish will taste like a boat. It won't. Salmon would be the perfect fish to start with to prove otherwise :buddies:

I made her buy it to get her over her fears :howdy:
Plus, I'm so tired of chicken :killingme

First, what do you mean by fishy fish?
a. is it the size
b.the smell(needs to be tossed out)
c.just the fact that it is a fish?

My favorite marinade is in a bowl mix, 1 cup soy sauce(low sodium), 1 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tablespoon crushed garlic pour the mixture over the fish sprinkle some sesame seeds bake for 20 minutes at 450.

I am so very blessed
Sauté the salmon in a hot skillet with a light coating of olive oil. Sear on each side until done. Don't overcook.

Separately, mix up some sour cream or some plain Greek yogurt with some fresh lemon juice, some salt and pepper, and a bunch of dried or fresh dill. Maybe even a pinch of cayenne pepper in there, too. Serve this sauce over the cooked salmon.

I love it this way. The sour cream/yogurt mixture might need adjusting to your tastes. I love a more robust flavor, so add a crap-ton of dill and lemon to my bowl. Yummy!

There is absolutely no reason in the universe to touch salmon with anything other than a little salt and some tin foil. Wrap and broil till it flakes/melts in your mouth. Do no harm (by adding crap and overcooking).

I mixed up salt, pepper, a little brown sugar and a teeny pinch of cayenne. rubbed it on, drizzeled with olive oil and tossed under the broiler for a couple min

it wasnt too bad. still tasted like fish, but I actually ate a 3 or 4 oz serving without gagging. success!

You don't want fishy fish but you bought salmon? Lol! You're better off with tilapia or maybe cod :yum: (I know what you mean by fishy fish, not 'bad/old' but fishy).

I'm no help though, my favorite is grilled layered with sliced lemon and sliced onion :yay:

My son has been eating a lot of snakehead fish lately. He says it's very delicious and really tastes like chicken - no fish flavor.

I can't get past the way they look. I'm not ready to try any yet.

We had snakehead bites at this place in Charles Co and they were delicious.

Really? What place? I'm just curious bc 1. I'm not from MD so some seafood around here is new to me and 2. my guy is a big bowfisher and he catches a lot of snakehead and skate, but him and all his redneck buddies refuse to eat them. I feel like if even a redneck refuses to eat it, there's probably a reason....:coffee:

But I'm pretty adventurous with food...except bugs. No bugs.

I had snakehead bites recently at the Blue Dog Saloon as an appetizer. They seemed to be broiled and then placed over some sort of a red, melon flavored sauce. They were good, but I think I would like them even better if they weren't served with the melon sauce and maybe had a hint of a spice to them. They were not overly 'fishy' tasting.

Ive tried tilapia..wasnt a huge fan..and cod..well I like cod if it is deep fried and in a taco :killingme
