Good Point, I believe he does most of his stuff in and about the rivers/creeks, which would mean later in the season. Although, if its not blowing dogs off the chains and you can get out in the bay. The fish are often on top feeding, so not a big issue.
There is in fact sinking type lines that will get your fly down deep, but that's a another technique! baby steps...
