Not my brand of wodka but why take a dump on a southern MD boy who has worked hard and earned a pretty loyal following? I'm guessing few really have any idea how difficult it is to earn a sustainable living in music - well he's done it. Let us celebrate him, not take him down.I did attend a show at Hotel Charles several years ago and he has quite a following.

Last time I was at Hotel Charles was to see David Allen Coe, he was sick, the show sucked, none of his old music. What a waste of time..

Guess I really don't have a fog in the fight since i'm not really a fan of modern country music, but he dresses/looks more like he should be working at a southern california lowrider auto shop.

I think he has great voice. Saw him and the band a few times about 10 years ago at Dew Drop. They rocked it. He was leaning to more rock music then. He's writing his own songs now and the video for Whiskey Bound is on CMT. I think it's great to see a local guy succeed in the music world.
Absolutely!!!

I'm not a fan of modern country either. I don't like most of it. I pay attention to him because I like his voice.

Yes, so not a fan of modern country either. One of his "hooks", at least at the live performance I saw, was covering some popular hip-hop type songs, the ones that generally are more "pop" than "rap", and he put his own twist on them. I don't listen to any rap or hip-hop, so can't speak beyond generalities as far as that type of music goes. But it was a bizarre turn, couldn't tell you the name of any of the songs, but one encouraged everyone to "jump around" or something. His look appeals to a certain type for sure, not that there's anything wrong with that.

He's definitely got a good voice, best shown off by the more tender country-ish ballads IMO.

Anyway, no need to dissect his genre, just happy to see southern MD represented on a fairly national level musically. Before covid, pretty sure they were pretty close to a full-time touring band. I know his guitarist and bassist, Mike and Gene from way back in the day. Looks like Sam is doing an acoustic tour at the moment, hopefully he'll be able to get his full touring act back together soon.

I've become a fan of country rap, gangsta for rednecks, hickhop - I picked it up in Texas at the road houses and campgrounds.

Sam Grow's new sound reminds me of that, so I like it.
