I hope they do this, the people not receiving payments would move away, the tax base would disappear and the payments would have to go away and San Francisco would become Detroit, the Golden Gate Bridge would fall into bay etc but finally people would give up on this idea.

During my time in Dharan in the late 80s, we sailors lived in a compound. Of course, ours was filled with two bedroom mobile homes. But we for Thanksgiving and Xmas we visited the Aramco and McDonnel-Douglass compounds. Those places were nuts. Aramco's compound all had special rooms in them with separate hot and cold taps and temp and humidity control. It was drawn up by a western firm for the US part of Aramco and listed as "gardening room" or something equally innocuous. They all called it a "still room" and they all had copies of a booze recipe book. Each family had a sociality. We had a GREAT Thanksgiving.

Once one group has been compensated, it would only be a matter of time before another group demands compensation for perceived injustices done to them. This would further divide the country along racial lines and create more resentment among people who did not receive any form of compensation. It would also be challenging to determine who is entitled to reparations and who is not, which would undoubtedly lead to legal challenges and further unrest.

Providing reparations to a group of people hundreds of years removed from the sin of slavery does not right the wrongs of history. It serves only to create a perpetual sense of victimhood, victim entitlement and promotes resentment amongst the people.

What reparations do the ancestors of the soldiers who fought and died to free the slaves get? I am sick of hearing about reparations. It's time to suck it up and take advantage of the opportunities this country has to offer. I myself could not conceive owning another human being and I can't change the past. These individuals need to lose the victim mentality or they will never be anything even if they receive reparations.

That is what they are taught from birth everything is always someone elses fault.

As long as you meet the requirements of being over 200 years of age, have no discernible income, own a home or other property, have been a SF resident for at least 4 generations, have no children, and have never used drugs or alcohol. Other restrictions may apply."
