I never I had even met her until I was supeona'd(sic) 7 years after the fact for the defense trail of Chris Wilson. This was after Clayton was let go with an Alford Plea. Personally, I believe they let the killer walk away. Sara is buried near several members of my family and a few friends. I never go by there with out thinking of her and her kids. That whole summer was a disaster for alot of people, particularly Sara and her family.

Does anyone remember the murder of someone named Heidi Schulties? May not be spelling her last name correctly. I ran into someone I had been stationed with at Pax and we were talking about people we used to know. He said she had been stabbed/shot/something here in Lexington Park, would have been maybe 15 years ago. I'm curious about the details, whether it was solved or not.

It was very tragic.
A Man (stranger) broke into her home in Lexington Park one night.
She was alone and apparently she heard a noise and came out of her room and confronted him while he was gathering up some of her belongings.
And a physical altercation occured. He slit her throat with a knife.
and she lay bleeding while her attacker escaped with some of her belongings.
When the police arrived she was in bad shape and died shortly afterwards.
The man was later found several days later with the missing jewelry etc. He
had a long record of previous offenses in and around the area. He was tried and sentenced. I don't remember the details of the sentence.
I knew Hetty and her daughter Heather very well.
They were very nice people. Heather took it very hard and left the area
a few months later. I have not seen her since.

Dear God. It was a stranger then. I wondered about that, what I remembered most about Heidi was the way she collected stray people. I don't mean that in a bad way, deep down they were all basically good - just maybe on the fringes, troubled lives. She tried to help. I had forgotten all about Hetty - I think at one time she was either involved with or married to someone else I was stationed with. Did you know Heidi personally?

Her name was Stephanie Roper.....

Does anyone know where I can find info on Stephanie? Particularly her birthdate.

Stephanie was an artist, and she painted a sign for my work several years before she was murdered. I'm putting the picture on our website and I'd like to give her credit along with her birthdate and DOD.

While I can't help you with Ms. Roper's DOB, check out Maryland Crime Victims for information on the organization started by Stephanie's mother Roberta.

By clicking on the "About Us" link, you'll see a photo of Stephanie, her date of death (April 3, 1982) and the names of the animals who perpretrated this vicious crime.

Thanks so much, but I already have that info. :ohwell: I'll keep digging!

She was burned in a car, I cannot remember exactly how she died first......maybe strangulation?? She is buried at Charles Memorial Gardens, way in the back, close to where my mother is buried. I see her grave all the time, and think about the horrible way she died. I think it was around 1987?? I will check next time I go.......... :huggy:

She died in 1992, in case anyone was still wondering. I just happened to find this while doing some ancestry stuff. But she did die in '92 a few months after her daughter Danielle was born. She had three kids, 2 boys and a girl. I don't think they know too much about her though. It is a shame that they never figured it out, though. I only know about her from what my mom has said, my mom was her cousin.

Her name was Stephanie Roper.....

I was on the Roper Foundation when it first started. I worked for Kurt Wolfgangs father and Kurt was really in to the murder and close to the family. It was so horrific the way she died and the strength she had to fight until the end. I think about her when I go to Clinton and I pass for the sign TB.

I knew Sara. I used to work with her at Roses (the old Department store in Wildewood, not the strip joint). I always heard a suspect name, someone I graduated with, but don't want to mention it due to slander. This same suspect I always heard did it, also beat and stabbed another girl and left her for dead. Luckily, she did survive.

I hope this person is in Jail/Prison for what he did to the other girl.

I read thru this whole thread and all I could think was how incredibly sad it is that so many women have lost their lives in such horrible ways. And I am so sorry for the additional pain it must cause the families of those whose murders remain unsolved to not even have that small amount of closure. My prayers are with all of the families of these women.

Not sure. I'm looking at the case info on the judiciary website, and it says he was found guilty, but I don't know how to know about his jail time. He was charged with 1st degree rape, 2nd degree rape, assault w/intent to rape, sex offense 1st degree, battery, attempted murder-1st degree, and attempted murder-2nd degree.

Gosh, I guess the memory is the first thing to go. I asked my dad and he said that there was another murder, a young woman whose car broke down and 2 guys stopped and beat and tortured her, eventually killing her. That is what made him paranoid about me driving long ways to college.....but neither one of us can remember her name. He did say the 2 guys who did it were caught and that by his reckoning they would have been out of jail (he is not sure if paroled or just out) around the time when I was 30. He thinks. Obviously, Dad is a case for clean living. His memory is much better than mine is....
Tgat I believe was the Stephanie Roper case. She is buried in the same cemetary as my dad and grandparents in Cheltenham. In that case. I think her killers were caught and convicted.

I went to school with both of Sara Sapp's Sons. I'm actually very good friends with the younger of the two sons. They lived with there grandparents, but they called them mom and dad, that was all they knew. I remember it used to get brought up all the time when we were in elementary school. I would here them saying mom and dad, and my parents had told me that they were really there grandparents. They lived in golden beach for a while, there house ended up catching on fire about a maybe 2 years ago. The parents of Sara Sapp are now living in Georgia I believe. And the boys still live in the area.

I knew Sara, her older brother (Ray Jr. I believe) we called him "Porki" and her younger brother (Rodney if I remember right)...

Sara was really nice - full of life. I knew her in High School - she was an EXCELLENT softball player and had a scholarship (do not remember the details) but decided to have kids by babby's daddy instead... Either way, whenever I saw Sara she ALWAYS went out of her way to say hello to me and my parents.

Sara's dad whigged-out afterwards and I am not sure if that is the root cause of his charges - what happened, but he was a nice man... this isl back when the kids were kids and we all played baseball / softball at Hughesville. Mom was super-cool! :yay:
