Schiff Stops Witness From Testifying to 'Protect Whistleblower' He Says He Doesn't Know

It's just another example of people like Schiff living in this world where everyone outside of it are too stupid to see what's going on.

On the WB's part... the guy is a coward. Wearing a mask while throwing a cement-laden milkshake at the president.

I just keep thinking of "A Few Good Men" where Cruise catches Nicholson in a hitherto unseen - lie.
He wanted Santiago to be quietly moved off base, because he feared "his life might be in danger" - but he was also
VERY emphatic in his famous speech - that the Marines in Guantanamo NEVER disobey orders, and that he personally ordered them all
that Santiago wasn't to be touched.

So there's only one way Santiago COULD have been killed - he ordered those two Marines to do a Code Red which unknown to them at the time
had been altered so that Santiago would die.

Schiff knows the WB's life isn't in danger - to my knowledge, no one in this big an instance has ever seen actual danger. Testifying against mob bosses - drug lords - terrorists - yeah, they've needed to be protected.

Honest to God, this has gone on long enough. Even the public that was in favor of this is tilting away. It's a damned clown show, and the clowns need to figure it out. You can NOT like Trump at all and still see what this is.

The GOP should have asked flat out if Vindman knew or spoke to Eric Ciarmella.
If we take him at his word that he didn't know the whistleblower, he wouldn't be outing the whistleblower even if he acknowledged he knew or spoke to him, because in his mind he isn't the whistleblower. If we take Schiff at his word, he couldn't prevent or obstruct the answer because he presumedly doesn't know who the whistleblower is either.
I've be thinking the exact same thing for the past couple weeks. If "nobody" knows who the whistle blower is, then how is asking about Ciarmella exposing the whistleblower.

Just think about this. Our country has so many people who think like Sapidus, that they almost elected Hillary Clinton.
That should keep anyone awake nights.

The guy could be provided all sorts of protection. But honestly, that's the risk of coming out like this. There are going to be people that will hate you enough to put your life in danger. People that speak out get death threats all the time. Certainly I'm not condoning this behavior, but if you're going to make an accusation against someone, have the courage to face that person and say it to their face - in a manner of speaking.

Here is another thought though about this going on long enough... As far as I can tell, there are 5 democrat senators running for president. Under senate rules, all members are required to be present during the entire 'trial' proceedings. These senators would have to stop campaigning. Tell me they would stand for that. Why aren't they running over to Schiff, demanding he stop the madness?

Have any of you listened to Sondand's testimony today?

It is absolutely devastating to Trump. He confirms that there was a quid Pro Quo and that everyone knew about it and that the White Hosue has blocked him from accessing any records.

This is honestly much worse than Watergate testimony at this point and implicates Barr, Pompeo and Pence.

I've never seen anything like it and you owe it to yourselves to listen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump resigned after this especially if the Supreme Court rules against his tax case.

Not to overstate it but this is really bad for the whole country.

Did Ukraine get the military aid? Did they open any investigations in to Burisma?

They got it months later. They didn't open any other investigations.

Are you thinking bribery is only possible if they didn't get the aid and didn't open the investigation? That intent doesn't matter? I know this is the new GOP talking point, but curious on your thoughts.

It obviously matters to you folks on the far left.

To the rest of us...not so much. And I hope they do open an investigation in to Burisma.

So the wailing and gnashing of teeth is because Ukraine didn't get the money as soon as they possibly could have, even thought they did get it with the allotted time frame.

So you don't think the intent matters, despite the law saying otherwise. Got it. There already was an investigation into Burisma. What do you think a second one would find?

Maybe for some folks. Sure.

One could characterize the GOP's actions as "wailing and gnashing of teeth" simply because Trump got caught, I guess.

What "allotted time frame " are you referring to?

From what I have heard from the testimony so far the aid was only released days after the whistle blower complaint in an attempted cover up.

Without going full Chris with the internet research, I understand that the aid had to be distributed by a certain date. It was.

This whole "days after the whistle blower complaint" is sketchy at best.

When do you think the Senate will vote to convict Trump?

It needed to be spent by end of FY. Sept. 30. Due to other issues, Congress gave the Pentagon another year to spend what they were obligated to ($250 million, an additional $141 million from the State Dept.)

As of yesterday, there's still $35 million in aid that has yet to go to Ukraine.
More than $35 million of the roughly $400 million in aid to Ukraine that President Trump delayed, sparking the impeachment inquiry, has not been released to the country, according to a Pentagon spending document obtained by the Los Angeles Times.
https://www.latimes.com/politics/st...ne-aid-delayed-despite-white-house-assurances

We know that the aid was put on hold on July 18 as requested by Trump. July 25th Trump and Zelensky talked during on a phone call. August 12, the whistleblower's complaint is filed. August 26, Atkinson (intel's IG) tells National Intel Directior (acting) Maguire to say that the complaint "appears credible". Sept. 9 3 House committees announce in investigations. September 11, it was released.
