School Bus and Semi Crash on Rt. 235; Bus Driver Cut from Vehicle

At 12:23 p.m. today, a St. Mary’s County public schools bus and a tractor-trailer crashed on Route 235 in front of Dean Lumber in Hollywood.
Both drivers were injured. The driver of the tractor-trailer lost consciousness in the crash, and it took volunteer firefighters 15 minutes to cut the driver from the bus. A helicopter is set to land on Route 235.
There was one additional patient on the bus who was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The semi driver is also being taken by volunteer rescue squad ambulance to St. Mary’s to get checked out.
Northbound 235 was immediately closed after the crash and traffic in the southbound lanes is only crawling past as of 12:50 p.m.
St. Mary’s County school district officials responded to the scene. The bus was numbered 803.
