School Lists

yeah yeah
So, while at wal-mart the other day- I was looking for my neices school supply list. I became stumped when I saw that my neice who will be in kindergarten will need school supplies, but that when I looked at the 1st grader list- it didnt have anything but

"child is to bring 5.00 with them on the first day of school for the teacher".

I am assuming this means that the teachers are going to be taking the money and putting it towards the supplies- but I just find it as odd. And I am sure parents would probably find it as a blessing.. seeing as they dont have to brave that aisle of torture- but, I just wonder if they are going to request money through out the year still.. like every quarter or something.

Why am I worried about it? I have no fricken clue- I just was kinda looking forward to buying her all the stuff.

Guess I should ask to, is this will all schools or just green holly?

I would call the school,t hat just doesn't sound right to me. I know I spent way more than just 5 on supplies, I'll be that is for other things than personal supplies. Ty will be going into the 1st grade and has a list of like 20 items he'll be needing. He'll also need cash for the weekly reader type thing. And last year all the parents donated a few bucks for misc. supplies that the teachers need throughout the year.

Anybody have the 1st grade list for Lettie Dent? They didn't have it at Wally World last few times we were there.

school list, whatta crock..

Every year I get the list for my daughter, I cringe, I hate Hellmart, I hate to shop. Now ,I send money to my childs teacher, a few times a year, just a few bucks. I also buy everything on her list, plus extra because I know lots of kids will show up on the first day of school with nothing. I also have always contributed snacks, neccesary or not, our kids are in school a long day. Some classes don't get to go to lunch at Park Hall untill after 1pm....Very long time for an 8year old to go if breakfast is at like 7am. .. I never complain about this, teachers usually end up at sometime in the year, using their own money to purchase supplies. That is awefull right, that we barely pay them enough as is is, adn they have to use their own cash. I am a single mom too, but I want my kids hours at school to go easily and productively, you gotta do what ya can.
