School lunch link?

When I was in elementry school, roughly 15 years ago, we had a system set up where when you went into the lunch line they had a wall of cards where you got your tray. They were organized by class and your parents put money on the account so the card worked like a debit card. However the card had your picture on it and when you went to pay, they looked at the picture on it to make sure it was yours. Once you paid, you put it in the sleeves hanging on the wall and it would be there the next day. I'm surprised we had that technology 15 years ago but it sounds like now the schools cant get it together.
When I was in elementary school, we had to buy little tokens at a table the hallway in the morning when we came in and turn those in at lunch time. If you lost your token you didn't eat.

I spoke to the head cafeteria lady today (in person). I provided proof of payment (front and back copies of checks). The amount I have paid, plus the negative balance is MORE than what could humanly be possible for this school year. There haven't been enough school days to have the balance PLUS my daughter packed her lunch probably every day for the first 2 weeks. Anyhow, she didn't have a printer so I could not get copies of her data. So now I have to contact the BoE. :ohwell:

Girls elementary school is some kinda' messed up. I give her two checks each Monday - one for daycare and one for school lunch. Today she tells me she OWES $85 for school lunches. :faint: I go back and look through my checks just to make sure I didn't miss TWO MONTHS. Nope, I'm cool. I ask her if she "forget" to turn some in. Nope, cool there, too! Soooooo, what happened to my money?

stopped that paying so far in advance a long time ago. i tried doing it daily, but that became a nuisanse to remember; now it's $10 every Monday.

oh yeah, they also can use their account to buy snacks (not sure if all schools or counties have this)

yeah, and when i was there you could only charge like one or two lunches in the negative and then you couldn't do any more...
They started that in my kids' school. I think they can go like $10 in the hole, then they can't buy anything but a cheese sandwich and some white milk.

It is how it 's set up in Calvert.. but I don't know about anywhere else.

Setup the same way in Charles - the boy can either punch in his number on a keypad or tell the cashier and she will enter it... their picture shows up on a display verifying it is them.

Plus - Wifey confirmed you can add money to the lunch account over the internet.

Hey Lusbymom, is there a website you can go to for Calvert or do you have to go to the school?
