Scotty Needs A Home

R.I.P. Bobo, We miss you!
If I did not work during the day and had a fenced in yard I would love to take care of pets. We live on 20acres and very far away from any main roads, but I would feel better with a fence around the yard ( some dogs don't come when you call them ). My yellow girl is really good about coming when we call her and we never leave her alone unless she is on the lead. She has plenty of room on the lead/dog house/fresh water/we put an old sleeping bag in the dog house for the winter months. But we never leave her out there when it is cold (she is inside on days like today) She loves the outside but its just too cold today. I would like to build a kennel one day and do foster care, but too many folks think it is wrong for my dog to be on a lead for any amount of time and might not allow me to foster dogs.

I use invisible fence and I know you can buy the stuff much cheaper from like a Petco and maybe even Tractor supply. Easy to install and will keep them within your defined area. I need to get our newest foster dog use to it, until then she must be walked on a leash outside. BTW, I see nothing wrong with your pup being on a lead for short periods throughout the day.

We have thought about the invisible fence, but because she runs and follows us all over the property ( 20acres ) while we do outside stuff and while my son plays, she goes with him for walks in the woods and stuff. We are afraid she will not understand when and where it is OK. I guess maybe the collar would tell her when its off her it OK to go any place, when its on only part of the yard is OK. I guess she would learn.

My dogs figured it out...When it comes off they figure,,,car ride!!!
Invisible fence is so expensive to maintain,,,collars and batteries. I wish I would have purchased a system like they have at Petco, my neighbor uses that and it works just as well.

Thanks for the info....the 2 cats belong to my daughter who is living with us right now. My dog is not very happy about them and chases them to my daughter's room when they come out. She doesn't like me spoiling and making over the kitties. LOL! I will miss them when she moves out. They are sweet boys.

hubby has allergies, he really suffers around cats. He is putting up with them because it is family and my daughter was only to be with us a few months. He likes cats, just has a real problem breathing, ichy eyes, around them. They mostly stay upstairs and in her room because of my dog.
