Will keep that in mind, he had elevator cabling of some sort but it had a steel cable down the middle of it. They wouldn't price the stuff so he had to bring it all back and will have to strip it. Thanks

Some people take it and burn it so the rubbersheathing burns off, but it also takes some off the price he could get for it. Personally, I'd burn it off outside and just take a loss on the price.

My brother and I made good money as kids from stripping wire my dad would bring home for us. Rough on the hands..good on the pockets. Dad was/is an electrician.

With most places they take some of the price off for things like that, i kow they take like half for radiators if you dont remove the plastic and any brackets. Waldorf is a rip off, ive been dealing with doug at montgomery for a few years. We get $.45 for aluminum turnings, $.65 for solids and $.45 for cans. And they come pic it up. we usually have about 2000-2500bs of turning and 250-300 of solids and about 10lbs of cans. They did pickup once and they had a little over 1200lbs of nickel sheets, he told me it went for about 7.50 a lb.

anyone have any honda engine blocks they will give you $.45 if you punch the sleeves out. Im trying to get the motor out of my accord i think i could get about 200 for the block and head after i strip them.

heres the website

http://www.montgomery-scrap.com/

Id call up there and see what the stuff you have is worth.

I had assumed it was already stripped. :jameo:

But, maybe this will give your son a chance to check out the other places mentioned to see if he'll get more $$.

Most of it is HUGE...pretty hard to strip. He will have to burn it, I would think.

I agree, if its what I'm thinking it would be very time consuming to whittle away at it with a pocket knife or something. Its not like your average pile of wires you can just strip. Burning would take some off the price though but it may be the most practical.
