Yep Microsoft and their updates can make life heck. You might want to check again in a few months to see if there is anything else that may need to be "updated" or patched.

So the Windows auto upgrade didn't mention it. Only once I went to the MS upgrade site. I had no idea there was a difference.

It always seems "sneaky" to me, that the majority of their "fixes" are only if you search for them yourself. I guess it's because if you don't have the "problem" you don't need the fix. Not really sure what the reasoning is.
