I think it totally wrong to have these fishing expeditions. there is absolutly no reason for them to check for seatbelt use. I feel it should be the way it was when the law first came out. You could get a ticket for not having one on, but only if you were pulled over for another offense.MMDad said:These are legal searches because they are not looking for the other offenses, but if they see them they take action. I don't have any problem with the checkpoints or the searches that go along with them, but I do see this as moving down the slippery slope. If this is okay today, what rights will we give away tomorrow?
In general i am opposed to check points. I think it is a little too gestapo-esque.
