Seat belt checkpoint

These are legal searches because they are not looking for the other offenses, but if they see them they take action. If you are dumb enough to roll up to a group of cops without your seatbelt on, your stash sitting on the seat next to you, and your glock sticking out of the glove compartment, don't you think you deserve what you get?

I don't have any problem with the checkpoints or the searches that go along with them, but I do see this as moving down the slippery slope. If this is okay today, what rights will we give away tomorrow?
I think it totally wrong to have these fishing expeditions. there is absolutly no reason for them to check for seatbelt use. I feel it should be the way it was when the law first came out. You could get a ticket for not having one on, but only if you were pulled over for another offense.
In general i am opposed to check points. I think it is a little too gestapo-esque.

I agree with you when it comes to adults. But I do not think that the laws should be the same with children not in restraints. I know plenty of moms who think that it okay for their 4 year old to just be in a seatbelt. Yet, the kid's neck is being cut by the seatbelt. It is too hard for a cop to see this on the road. If they are pulled over, they'll get to see it up close. :yay:

Now imagine this

Lets imagin your now living "lets say" Colorado or Iowa and your being checked or ticketed for none use of seatbelt in your vehicle and what blows pass you is a guy with his kid on a motorcycle with no helmets worn which in these states is legal :eyebrow:

Law says that you must wear a helmet in MD. If you are driving in MD you must obey all laws. Kind of like the right turn on red. In NC there are no right turns on red. Got my first warning that way.
