Point Lookout, MD - Responding to reports of sightings of Federal Police parked at the Point Lookout monument last night, TheBayNet.com has learned that the Federal Government Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Division has within the last few days contracted with a local security firm based out of Lexington Park.

Jamie Spaulding, president of Spaulding Security and Investigations LLC, was contacted by the Veterans Affairs Office and put under contract to guard the memorial 24/7.

Spaulding was unaware if this is an isolated case or if it is happening nationwide.

Why Point Look Out; the site of a mass grave of confederate inmates who died while in captivity in horrific conditions? Is this going on nationwide?

TheBayNet.com has contacted multiple agencies and is awaiting further details.

What a bunch of babies crying about "they are taking our History"

Since when can you only learn about history from statues? Go to a museum or read a book. Why are you still worshipping statues of a side that lost.

Why would you want a statue or flag for that matter that offends a 1/3 of the population?

" most of these Confederate monuments were built during the Jim Crow era and in response to the civil rights movement — a sign that they were meant to explicitly represent white supremacy in the South:

Given that America is now trying to make amends for the racist policies of its past, it seems natural that the monuments that celebrated this horrific past come down.

It’s also not the case that this history is being erased, since the statues, flags, and other monuments aren’t necessarily being destroyed. They’re often, as was the case in South Carolina and potentially New Orleans, moved to museums or, as is the plan in Charlottesville, sold to someone else to take care of them."

Yep... absolutely TRUE! Once all the statues come down.... the violence in Chicago will stop, Tawfawna will get off the dole and get a job, all the bebe daddies will start paying their support, lollipops and gumdrops will fall from the sky and all will be right in the world!

The obelisk at the veterans cemetery is at the end of a road in Scotland, MD. You have to drive pretty far to get offended by it. I doubt any of the latino guys heading down to the state park even give it a second thought.

You first, remove all of the Rosa Parks memorials.

A mass grave even...over 4000 CSA soldiers are buried in it.

You know sappy, gay marriage offends 30% of the population, it is still being tolerated.
But you are right, Tolerance is only for other people, never the righteous.

Who cares? It's still stupid to have confederate statues there. We are in the north. The south lost.

Statues should be reserved for people we are aspire to be like. Not racists

Gay people don't go out in public? I swear I've seen them out there.

My family was oppressed by the Romans - should we stop all foreign relations with Italy, remove all Roman numerals from all statues and documents and such, etc.?

Southern Maryland is south of the Mason Dixon Line. Therefore, considered part of the South.

And the marked location is where the events occurred.

Unless those oppressed folks take daily trips to the end of the peninsula, I doubt they even know of it's existence. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
