See my pots?

Go Braves!
Very pretty!

We used to make those all the time (freehand also) My kids have made their own designs and given them as cherished gifts. It's cute to see them on Grandma's porch when we go to visit.

How do you feel about teaching someone how to make them?
No teaching involved - it's easy.

Supplies needed:
terracotta pot
waterproof base sealer (I use Olympic Waterguard)
acrylic craft paint
paint brushes, detail brushes, spouncers, stencils, whatever you have on hand
waterproof finishing sealer (I use Behr WetLook)

Seal the pot with the base sealer.
Paint the pot with whatever base color you like (at least two coats).
Decorate the pot with stencils, stickers, painted designs, etc.
Seal the pot with acrylic finishing sealer, 2 coats.
Let dry (cure) for 7 days before planting anything in it or putting it outside.

How you decorate the pot is up to you. My step-daughter wrote Beatles lyrics all over hers with a silver Sharpie and it was very cute. My daughter did one with little snowmen all over it, made with different size spouncers.

And that's all there is to it!

I will definitely have to try that, but a question about the decals you used since I am defintiely not an artist, what kind are they? Do they just stick on the pot and then you seal it? Is there a particular kind that is good for this?

I get all kinds of stuff, but the ladybugs and flowers are Wallies - they're meant to stick on your walls, like wallpaper decorations. Pre-glued, so just wet the back, stick them on the pot making sure there are no bubbles, embellish with dots, squiggles, etc, then seal the pot with the acrylic finish.

You can even use construction paper, photographs, magazine pictures. Just decoupage them on with Mod Podge, let it dry well, then embellish and seal.

Really pretty! I used to do pots too, but I would freehand. Then I got into polymer clay, now I have over 100 lbs of the stuff and never touch it! :ohwell:
:faint: I've been working with polymer clay, painting birdhouses, painting random things on canvas, basically crafting anything I can dream up.

Vrai, I was really impressed when I thought you'd painted those flowers and ladybugs...you punk.

I used to do birdhouses. I'd buy the dollhouse miniatures to decorate them and the painting was all done by hand. But then Michael's stopped carrying the miniatures.

These were some of my favorites.
