Seen a Ghost?

No, Anna Carpenter. Donnie something or other was the ranger. Anna had lived in the beach cottages that used to be there, then moved over to the lighthouse. She used to lifeguard there in the summer, many moons ago. She said she never saw anything but had times when she was pretty creeped out.
When did she actually live in the lighthouse? The rangers name is Donnie Hammett.

I have nevr been a big believr in ghosts, but both me and the husband thought on several occasions that we saw "something" at Oakwood Lodge while we had it. It was always in the same location, but that building was so freakin creepy anyway.

We were spending the night once and all of the sudden, for no reason, my dog jumped up and went ballistic...I'm sure there is a rational explanation, but it sure was wierd.

On another note, I've done a bunch of the ghost and vampire tours in New Orleans and they are AMAZING!!!! If that doesn't turn you into a believer, nothing will!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm824YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_25.gif' border=0></a>

It would have almost had to have been 30 years ago being that the last resident in the lighthouse was Laura Berg in 1980. She may have run across a Mr. Gerald Sword, I believe he lived in the lighthouse for a long while before Ms. Berg did.

 Ah, but it leads into so many other subjects that I'm interested in, history being one.

I remember Mr. Sword. I think Anna actually worked at Point Lookout during his reign of terror and three of my brothers at one time or another did also. Do you know Marty Pratt? (You know in your previous life, since you are such a young'un) That gang used to party at the lighthouse when Anna lived there. Do you believe that spirits exist at the point? And what are they exactly? I'm not making fun of you because I believe things do "exist" that we can't explain and that we're all capable of "seeing" if we could just loosen up enough to do so. I've had some odd things happen to me that I wouldn't call ghosts but something of a spiritual nature that both frightened me to a degree and put me at peace all in the same moment.

Pratt does sound familiar, I'm sure I'll run across it in my research travels.

To me, if you want to be a true ghost hunter or paranormal investigator (take your pick) you must be highly skeptical for there are certainly more who do not believe than do believe. With that said, the PLO lighthouse has been named by many "America's most haunted lighthouse", has had many EVP's, many intriguing photo's, and numerous stories. I myself, however, have never experienced anything out of the ordinary while inside the lighthouse or on the grounds. I cannot say with 100% certainty that it is haunted because I really have no personal experience or proof of the existence but I strongly believe some (and I do say 'some') of the stories and evidence presented. About the only thing that has happened to me at the PLO lighthouse has been weird feelings in two rooms in particular, the very small child's room upstairs on the left side of the building and the basement as a whole. Hopefully, as I spend more and more time in the building I'll be able to capture more and more evidence that there is indeed something lurking.

Marty was like a ranger or something like that at the Point and he lived at the very end of Route 5. What I remember most about him was that he never wore shoes (well I guess he did once in a while) but everytime I saw him he was barefoot, winter, summer didn't matter. Marty didn't like shoes.

You know BL it's funny that you mention a child's room because according to Anna the voice on the tape was a child's voice, male in fact. I saw the special they had on the most haunted lighthouses in Savannah GA of all places. I was flipping through the channels and saw Donnie. I never did hear the tape though, it was something she told my brother about not long after it happened. For some reason Hans Holzer sticks in my mind as either the person who came to investigate or a group he was affiliated with.

Cha ching! Good memory girl. Here's a site that you may have visited before but it has since been updated here and there by Robert Hall. Robert Hall has done extensive research on the PLO lighthouse, more than anyone else I know. www.ptlookoutlighthouse.com

Hey thanks for link! I've only glanced at it so far since it's close to quitting time and this NMCI is acting goofy (goofier). Looks worth the wait, have to pass it on to Anna. Keep posting your stuff about the point, please it's fascinating.

Today's paper says Maryland now owns the lighthouse, which will eventually be open to visitors.

As I understand it, when the lighthouse audiotapes were made, there was silence in the room. But when the tapes were later played back... :yikes:

Awesome! Now they just have to obtain some major funding to gut-out and renovate the interior.
