I am sorry everyone i have not posted on this thread about my girl. Right after i posted this Harlee went down hill super fast. By Wed she was no longer able to use any of her legs, and she just seemed like she was out of it, she still looked when we called her name but she was no longer wanted to even try to move. I called my vet and we decided to have her put to sleep, she no longer had deep pain either so he said she must have done some MAJOR damage when she had her very last terrible seizure, even though it took days for her to loose her movement she was no longer the same. I miss her so much. Today i went to her grave and planted a nice garden over her. I'll try to figure out how to resize a photo to place on here for everyone.

MOrgan, I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your baby had a long and wonderful life with you. She was very lucky to be so loved. God Bless you and RIP Harlee.

Hi everyone, i don't think i have posted a thread here. I have responded a few times but never started a thread so HELLO :howdy: . I have a 12 year old rottie and she was diagnosed with epilepsy in Feb as well as spondylosis http://www.dogstuff.info/spondylosis_deformans_lanting.html she takes steriods for that and is on Phenobarbital twice a day for the seizures. I'd like to have some opinions from others with dogs with this disease or both diseases. She has been doing really well since feb with not 1 seizure but with in the past 3 weeks has now had 2 and needed valium to sedate her to get her out of them. She will need bloodwork again soon and it is just becoming so expensive. I LOVE her i have had her since before she was born (mother breeders rotties and we show them.) How have you guys managed with seizuring dogs and the cost of the bloodwork ever few months? Thanks for any advice. :huggy:
Hello - I am sorry to hear about your dog. I have a 15+ year old mix who started having seizures about 4 years ago. She had test after test, even a spinal tap and they were never really able to figure out why. She finally stopped having them once she was put on phenobartital and potassium bromide. PB is a liquid compound that the pharmacy mixes and you put it in her food. My dog would get the PB in the morning and a pheno at night and she hasn't had a seizure in a couple of years. She is on her last leg(s) now due to her age but I hear you about the bills. I have spent a lot of money on her over the years but I couldn't/wouldn't have done it any other way. They depend on us to care for them, good or bad. Hang in there!
