Severely abused dog needs foster home.

Anyone with room who may want to foster this little guy please pm me for contact info.

Part of the e-mail...

His paw is going to have to be amputated.
This dog had a horrible life and deserves to be saved!

You would need to commit to fostering which means feeding, providing love and probably medication while this dog heals. Limited movement after amputation. Will need to be crated most of time. I can loan a crate. This is a committment. Please consider helping. Once he heals, gets cleaned up, he looks highly adoptable.

This poor guy has a number of issues and is currently being evaluated so no decisions will be made until the hospital has had the chance to do a thorough exam.

thanks all,
K

K_K,

Let me know what they decide for him. Amputation is easily dealt with by dogs so he should come around fine after that. Bless his heart poor fella. :huggy: What other concerns do they have for him??

I'm expecting an update shortly after the exam. He may also be blind (due to the eye infections), possibly seeing shadows only. I'm not even sure what "else" might be wrong.

Fortunately a number of people have stepped up to foster, of course that may change once everything is found out.

We will be taking donations as soon as we find out for sure where to send them.

They are trying to find out where this guy came from so they can follow up with charges.

Well I hope they can find out and nail them to the wall. Please keep us updated and if you need any help, let me know.

Donations can be made to:
M.A.S.H.
PO Box 1168
Huntingtown, MD 20639

Right now his medical expenses will easily top $2000, so any amount will help.

And to those that question why we think it's worth it to invest this type of money into a dog? If you have to ask, then you will never be able to understand it. It comes from our heart...

If you send a donation, please let me know so we can keep track of where we stand.

Wharf rat - thank you for starting this thread, sorry I hijacked it!

They may also have to amputate another toe. All his nails were growing into his pads... pretty pathetic whoever "owned" him.

Do you have any idea at all what happened to this poor dog? This is so sad. I have never seen a dog look this bad before.

example of why all people need to go through a big long process before they become animal owners. My God, my heart goes out to this dog and all animals that have and are in his situation. These pictures make me want to cry.

Update on "Pie"

Greatest need right now is funding for vet care.
See below for details on where to send donations. Donations go directly to MASH.

1. Came in severly matted, emaciated.
2. Severe matting on abdomen and all four legs, urine and fecal staining.
3. Toenails fully grown out and embedded in pawpads.
4. Numerous small dermal masses.
5. Needs right forelimb amputation.
6. Swollen toe on left rear needs to be evaluated through x-rays, possible amputation.
7. Ocular disease which leaves him blind (totally?) but does not cause him pain, will need artificial tears for the rest of his life. Recommend he be seen by Animal Eye Care or general practice for eye issue.
8. Teeth will have to be addressed.
9. Already neutered.

Proceedures performed today:

1. Blood work: Heartworm negative. Everything else looks good, nothing to preclude surgery.
2. Radiographs taken of digit on left rear paw: Boney changes, amputation recommended.
3. Waiting for fecal results.

If you are able to contribute towards Pie’s treatment, please make the check out to MASH and send it to: M.A.S.H., PO Box 1168 , Huntingtown , MD 20639 . All donations should be marked "Pie" in some way or another.

Here is a page that we will update with new pictures from when MASH has him cleaned up as much as possible:

Pie - Second Hope Rescue

(If you want your donation to be "tax deductible" you can make it out to Second Hope and put Pie on it and that money will be send to MASH)

Thank you all.
