^^ This. At 15 her parents are still responsible for her behavior. It was a parenting fail on their part that their underage daughter was out partying, drinking and fooling around. The daughter deserved punishment, not FoF for assuming that somebody who was drinking at a college party was of legal age.

Again, we're back to assessment of the crime. Please let's focus on keeping anyone else from being damaged by these screwy laws. Yes, it's unfair. Yes, things should have happened differently. Fine. Let's focus on the here-and-now, and how we can keep the Legislature from harming more people. Specifically, my children.
If keeping children from being lured with candy by pedophiles means that your wife has to take your kids trick or treating and you cannot hand out candy at your house, so be it.
I'd rather try and get the law changed than give real sex offenders carte blanche to lure children to their home.

Yes, of course, and that's what we are planning. for this year... I think they're either doing the Salisbury Zoo thing or something at the mall.The kids are young enough this year that they won't know the difference. My worry is for the future that is rapidly coming up. Seems like just yesterday they were born, and now my oldest starts Headstart soon.
The trick-or-treating thing is just one issue of many. Bottom line is I have done my time and paid my price, and now I absolutely refuse to allow some idiot legislator to stand on my neck to promote his/her own political rise. Especially at the expense of my children having a normal life.

I don't know; I just have this nightmarish sequence running through my head of a bunch of children on a playground somewhere, taunting my kids in a circle "Your Daddy's a PERVERT! You're Daddy's a PERVERT!". You know how cruel children can be. It breaks my heart, and I dont know what to do to prevent it.
How would these other children know? Is your status known in your community? Just because someone doesn't pass out candy doesn't make them a child molester.

People check that registry site and tell neighbors. I knew that there was a registered sex offender a half mile away because my neighbor told me the first time that I met her which was a few days after I moved in.

Do you talk to your immediate neighbors? Do they know? Hope for the best that it never happens.
