Parents question appropriateness of clothes for little girls

"Padded push-up bras. Plunging necklines. Platform sandals. The typical teen girl’s wardrobe? Guess again.

Take a quick survey of discount and department stores, and you’ll find this kind of merchandise aimed at younger girls as well.

Some South Sound moms say they’re tired of struggling to find appropriate clothing for their 6- to 10-year-olds.

“I can’t stand many of the clothing styles I see for little girls today,” says Suzie DeWitt, a Puyallup mom of two daughters, ages 8 and 9.

Gina Varden of Tacoma, who has a 7-year-old daughter, says she sees fashion trends for teens – short tops, short skirts, high heels – “drifting down to 5-, 6-, 7-year-olds.”

She calls it a dangerous trend: “It’s opening up a whole can of worms for pedophiles and people who want them to look older.”

If parents won't teach their young daughters that T&A is the only way to get somewhere in life, just like Britney Spears, then store managers will just have to take matters into their own hands.

It takes a village.

Try finding age appropriate clothing for a 10 year old who is 5'2". Luckily she's a jeans and tshirts gal.

I am 5'2 and manage to rarely wear anything revealing. I have no problems finding clothes that fit within my prude guidelines.

Flipping channels last night, one of the local stations was advertising their 11:00 news story about breast implants for 9 year olds????

Girlie was sent to our house wearing low-rise jeans. She's 2 and a half. Almost half of her diaper was hanging out.

How are parents supposed to sell them as a sex slave if they don't have breasts?

She's still built like a kid though, hasn't "filled out", so I'm stuck in either the Jrs or the top end of the kids dept. The more modest clothes in the ladies petites don't hang right on her. The way she's been eating the past month I think we're in the middle of another growth spurt.

Go to the Dress Barn. Their clothes are modest and cute. Their petite section is decent. :yay:

were they really low rise? my girl (she's a little over 2) tends to show a little diaper at times, but it's because the waistbands are all too big for her!

I had a hard time finding Easter shoes for her that didn't have "high" heels.

No, they were low-rise "skinny" jeans. It wasn't just "a little" diaper. It was almost half of it. :lmao:

where does one even find low rise jeans for a 2 year old?!? that's just ridiculous. I'd be happy to find some that fit the poor thing's waist with out beiong high waters.

I've walked past the pre-teen section in penney's and target on occasion. I fear for the day my little darling is old enough to wear those sizes. it will take ages to find stuff that her daddy and I will let her wear out of the house.

Oh, please ...

I have an "after school kid" that comes here in skin tight jeans, Skin tight stretchy top, looking like she's 14 or 5 but she's 6! :yikes: Yes 6 First grade!!

The grandmother (same age as me) is raising her. She buys her this stuff, because "that's what she wants to wear." :faint: She won't allow the kid to walk by herself ANYWHERE....even from the bus stop to my house. The little girl does nothing but dance. Very "adult like" moves. The gang of kids that hang around with her are boys. :duh:

I live in an area with no less than 6 sex offenders within 1/2 mile. Grandmom KNOWS this, too!

WTF is wrong with some parents these days?

Most of the toddler girl jeans are cut that way. I've had the same problem. Hell, my little one is in 12 or 18 month jeans and they are that way.
