Sorry to hear about it Unix. Sounds like she had a pretty awesome and love filled long life. It's been just over 6 months since I put Miss Daisy down as a big of pain in the azz as she was, I still miss her.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My dog is like my kid, so I know how they become family and dread the thought. :huggy:

I wish dogs, or any of our pets, would live as long as we do. I lost quite a few in my time and although it's unmanly, I've cried each and every time. A death in the family is never easy to deal with whether it be human or animal/pet because for the most part there isn't any difference. One would think you might get hardened to it but it just doesn't work that way.

You can tell a lot about a man by how he treats his dog. You are one of the good ones unixpirate :huggy:

My condolences. I didn't have a dog as a child when I lost my first dog 4 years ago I bawled like a child. Took me 2 years before I could bring myself to get another dog.

My old gal is 13, gray, but still has some spunk. We can actually take her outside now and she doesn't run away cause she is too old to do that. I love her a lot, but her time is coming and it will be very sad. After that, we are not getting another dog. Well, maybe not.....

You will know when it's time.. It's sad... I didn't break down when I buried her.. I did later when I talked about it to others..

You know.. ie.. getting another dog? My baby Sasha is helping me, us get through it.. I got Sasha way before Rox passed..
Roxy was an era.. MY son was almost 2 when I got her.. He's now 18... My daughter is now married at 22 and gone. You get the picture..

Good luck with your's.. I'm totally with ya.. It's sad sad!

She's at peace now Unix. Those last few months were probably tough on her.

I see where you were going with the kids all grown up, and Roxy was there at each and every turn in their lives. :huggy: It's hard to forget those kinds of memories.

Sasha is quite a girl herself. I still remember her first boat trip with Billy, Bobby, you and I. Seeing her react to the boat leaving the slip was funnier than hell. - "This thing moves?" :roflmao:

I told you all about Roxanne several months ago how old she was, (17) and thought she was about to go. Roxy hung in their! :huggy: She ate, drank water, went outside. Couldn't hear, started to lose her eye sight, started to not be able to walk...I couldn't put her down... :huggy: She was eating, drinking, pooping. Came in everynight. Wanted to go out every morning. Went to play ball tonight down at Mechanicsville Chaptico Rd. Moose Lodge. Came home. Roxy was gone. Buried her in the yard! :shocking: :huggy: miss her :bawl:

Its so sad to hear of a dogs passing :bawl: May the happy memories you have of her guide you through the pain you are feeling.

So sorry-

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I got a copy of the "Rainbow Bridge" from AAVEC 1 week to the day after we had Riley put down. I was doing good until I read that and saw that they had put his paw prints on the paper.
