Shirataki Pasta

So I tried the macaroni…. It was awful chewy and I did not like that very much, perhaps the noodle will be better.

Does anyone here know where I can find these, locally???

This is what I want to make....

One day I'm going to make you tofu and you will gobble it up with a smile on your face. Tofu is actually very good, depending on how you prepare it.

Dreamfields makes a great low carb pasta. They make spaghetti, penne, rotini, elbows and lasagna noodles and they're all good. I tried the Shirataki noodles once and almost :barf:.

Have you thought about just nixing the pasta altogether and just replacing it with vegetables? I think spaghetti sauce tastes great over steamed broccoli (I admit I got major side-eye from Dustin for this, and he's the one who dips his pizza in bbq sauce ). Then again, I don't like substitutes. I want real butter, real pasta, etc - not the fake stuff. There's also brown rice pasta, but I haven't tried that.

Eww! Everything I have read about the slimy stinky noodle is gross.

I like tofu, but my tofu doesn't stink or require rinsing and patting dry.

How about making the recipe with fresh tofu?

Where can I buy it? Or order online?

Giant & Safeway in PF both carry it, although I usually find more of a selection in Safeway. It's in a black box. I've also ordered it online before they started carrying it in the stores. The spaghetti is a little thinner than some other brands (still good though) but the other noodles are so similar to other brands I hardly notice a difference.

Dreamfields is very good, no taste difference whatsoever..BUT its not really low carb, unfortunately. It claims to have a process it uses to "protect" the carbs, but it is doubtful whether it actually works. It didn't seem to knock me out of ketosis right away, but did stall weight loss, and it does still affect my dads blood sugar similarly to pasta. So it may be a decent alternative if you are eating pasta anyway, in a small regular .5 Cup serving..but I would not recommend it for diabetics or low carbers from my own "experiments" as a viable "free to eat" food. Many people doubt the "process". Also, per dreamfields own site..it must be cooked al dente and overcooking it renders their "process" ineffective. So, just be careful and dial back expectations.:killingme

Mckays usually has them in the produce dept.

Hey thanks and welcome to the forums.

I've tried the low carb pasta and I like it. This really was to try this particular dish because I like Tofu whenever I've had it out in a restaurant. I also don't low carb. I hesitate to even post this... but I've done my research and I have been successful with Intermediate Fasting more specifically JUDDD. This was a dish I wanted to prepare while on a low calorie day. I think low carb is great... don't get me wrong (for those who are doing it) but for me, I felt I needed a life-style change and this was it.

Nic,

I've also eaten the sauce with broccoli and it is pretty good.

Having Fun!
Funny, they just had a lady make this recipe on today's Dr. Oz show. I hadn't clicked on this thread before but that made me look it up & investigate.

I think, for me, it might be better just to avoid the pasta altogether for a while...:coffee:
