Are my boys the only ones who completely thrash their shoes? JFC I buy them new shoes and within a 2 months they start to come apart or have holes in the soles. These arent cheap shoes either, these are the $100+ skate shoes :cds:

If I do not buy my son Stride Rite shoes yes he trashes them within a few months.

Be grateful you have a boy and not a teenage daughter. At least your son doesn't insist on $200 hair colorings/sephora shopping sprees etc etc etc.

Just shut up and buy the shoes, you will anyways.:buddies:

I did and I feel bad I didn't just make him buy the crappy cheap shoes and be picked on.

That said, his haircuts don't cost $200 but he now refuses to go to Gatton's barber shop and has to go to the salon. :drama:

I go to Payless for both my boys shoes because they always have the BOGO sale. If they want "better" shoes, they have to pay for them themselves. My oldest became obsessed with his shoes in 2nd grade because his teacher always wore Nike. He wanted a pair just like his teacher so he paid for them himself.

No. This past spring my son managed to trash a pair of DCs (the sole was completely separated in the front :ohwell:). This school year we got smart and bought nice shoes for school and play shoes from Target. It seems like once they get out of the stage where they grow out of everything before they even get to wear it a few times, they slip into the stage where they ruin everything before they can grow out of it. :cds:

See that whole "Use your own money" thing doesn't work because then he just reminds me I am 3 months past due on allowance.

you deadbeat lol

My brother's twins start highschool this year. He just threw in the towel on just about everything. He doesn't want them to get made fun of, but he doesn't want to have to mortgage his house to keep them in cool shoes/jeans/backpacks/ipads/etc etc. the list is endless.

that said, i'm glad i don't have kids

Those Griffey's shoes are hideous! Do you and your kid a favor and just buy him some basic Chucks or Vans. They're "cool" and they don't cost an arm and a leg. AND you can toss them in the washer when they get nasty and afford to buy a second pair for while the other ones are drying.

I swear by them, it's all I wear unless it's flip flop season. But of course, being a female, I have them in 12 colors/patterns yet I only wear two.

I have a pair of chucks from probably 8th grade or so that I still wear. Basic black lowtops. I have about 6 or so other pairs in various colors/styles that I have worn maybe once. My 10-ish year old chucks are still my fave. They are still all in one piece and now perfectly worn in.

Yup. My navy blue low tops are my favorite.

I haven't seen a pair that I'd wear. A few I've seen are cute, but nothing that fits my style.
I think I feel the same. I like the red ones and the black glitter ones but what do you wear them with? I usually wear ballet flats or boots with jeans when it's chilly out and I don't think Toms are a suitable substitute.

I somewhat agree but neither of us is a 14 year old boy starting his freshman year who has to be stylin and profilin for all those chicks and in the cool group. If I forced him to wear uncool shoes that caused him to be ostracized he could end up an angry, bitter, sociopath jerk who hangs on a forum hating people and when they don't seem to care that he hates them and they pick on him he files suit against them in district court.

In my opinion, I am doing EVERYONE a favor by just buying him the damn shoes.
