Thanks

you can do it yourself with a lift a friend and a case of beer.
should be able to start it in the morning and have it done in time to make the evening beer run.
back in the day when I raced in southern Virginia and North Carolina, We used to swap the engine out in about four hours time. Of course I didnt have alot of the extra B/S hooked up that made it an electrical/Vacuum nightmare.
At first I considered doing this myself since I have a shop and and an engine lift, but after reviewing the twelve pages of procedures for pulling a 99 Lincoln Continental 4.6L engine from above I thought differently. This is a front wheel drive V8 which leaves little room for maneuvering (one of the requirements was disconnecting the axles and shifting the trainy to one side). Anyway, I had Jimmy Rader's in Hughsville do the work. Took them a day and they did a great job. There was an issue with wheel alignment afterwords but they took care of it and apologized for the inconvenience. They did the replacement by dropping the entire front sub-frame assembly out of the car to access the engine. They seem to be old hands at engine swaps (they stated they used to do this for Brandywine Auto Salvage until Brandywine recently opened there own shop).
So far I can highly recommend Jimmy Rader's.

mind sharing what he charged for his services?
The installation was a little over a grand plus some additional parts were required which added $200 or so. This price was about the same that Brandywine had quoted and was about a third lower than a couple of shops in Waldorf had quoted. I provided the new used engine, which was an eBay purchase that I had shipped directly to Jimmy Rader's. The engine was $775 plus $155 shipping.
The car is in like-new condition which is why I went through all this trouble for a 10 year old car. The wife wanted a new used Lexus (we never by new) but after the sticker shock she came around to my way of thinking. Now we have a 99 with only 38k on the engine...
