If I was trying to hide files, I'd zip them into one file, encrypt it, and then split it into small pieces. Then I'd embed those pieces into the metadata of a bunch of vacation photos...that is, if I was smart enough to be able to do that. I know it can be done, but I don't know how to do it.

You just told them how you would do it. They know where to look if they ever suspect you.

And they have uber-geeks sitting in cubicles just waiting for the next chance to break an encryption. They're actually very good at it. If they actually cared about you, there's nothing they couldn't find out.Finding out that something is there is one thing. They'd still have to figure out how to put it back together and decrypt it.
