text me

This past weekend I saw a goober texting as I passed him (erratic driving) and then somebody else who pulled suddenly onto the shoulder and was on the cell phone. For the last one, sure, he pulled over, but he did so unsafely.
I won't even mention the number that I saw gabbing away as driving.
This to me is more important than seat belt laws. If somebody doesn't buckle up they can fly out of their windshield and splatter their brain matter to eternity (idiots) However, when somebody is chatting or texting away they are threatening me and my loved ones.
I don't want to be on any road that you might be driving on. You scare me with your combined driving and phone usage and "zoning out" ways.somdebay said:I dunno about everyone else, but I pay more attention when I am on the phone...maybe because I don't want to die or kill anyone. But when I'm not on the phone I tend to zone out.

Talking on the cell slow's you down. Old saying, "can you rub your belly and chew bubble gum at the same time"?
Can you "drive and talk on the celly at the same time"? Muchless "text".

Most people who drive should ALWAYS paying attention, not just when it is convenient for them.

Christy said:I think it is retarded, you already have reckless driving on the books as a crime, why split hairs? If you're driving erratic, who cares if it's from texting, putting on make-up, reading the paper...

Wenchy said:No, and they were not going slowly. I just wanted to get away from them.
Wenchy said:Whether putting on makeup, or whatever else, I don't want to be anywhere near the offenders.
Christy said:Well who does? My point is that it is redundant to create another law that is already covered by one already in existence.
FireBrand said:University of Utah study shows that use of cell phones while driving is
at least, just as bad as drunk driving (including hands-free devices).
It is not the device that is distracting, but the conversation itself !
