Should I have To Pay For CRE's Mistakes?

I am concerned as a member, CRE hired a high price GM and never consulted the membership before doing so. Now all of a sudden there complaining about being short on money and sticking us with all kinds of increases. Why should I have to pay more for a bad decision on their part?
What's really odd is why they would hire someone they cant afford, and after realizing they can’t, why he's still here? Maybe they haven’t figured it out yet, but if the board isn’t going to fix their mistake is there anything the membership can do?
What protection do I have as a member in case they do something else stupid, like putting in a swimming pool in the campground?

Sell and move to a place where your personal kingdom is not reigned over by a bunch of busybodies who want to spend your money for you.:yay:

What's so stupid about that?

And how much do you think the GM of what basically amounts to a small city SHOULD be paid? Would YOU be willing to do that job on the cheap?

:yeahthat: Personally I think HOA's consist of nosy busy-bodies that want to know (and broadcast) your personal business.

I live in an HOA free zone. Hint: When looking to buy a house, ask the seller two questions: Who provides electric (BGE is unreliable and expensive) and if the neighborhood has a homeowners association, and if so, how are they to work with?

I don't think you should have to....

There are a few of us on the Board now that not only agree with you... we are doing what we can to address your concerns...

We [the few on the Board that are working on your concerns] need you to stay in contact with us. We are working on keeping forums open to keep you informed. We will also be asking you to appear in person at the membership meetings to voice your concerns to those who are trapped in silent emails or without internet at all.

We are also working to link up to a forum just for CRE members so that you can be a part of forum meetings on line.

We are coming out of the dark ages quickly.

Most of all... we can thank SOMD Online... I've been in and out of these forums since I ran for Commissioner [and taking a ton of grief for it too :patriot: ] but the people here know how to run a responsive open forum and it is working wonders for CRE and I really really appreciate it....

Keep it up everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:blahblah: :boxing:

We have no protection. All we can do is keep an eye on the BoD and the management decisions.

We need to stand up and tell them no more BS and secrets.

OMG! The membership would freak! The lifeguards and beach patrols had to be let go....no $$$ Can you see the little tykes at the pool with no lifeguard?! Good point on the GM salary....(if this in fact true....) I prefer my Dilbert cubical. :banghead: :dude:

for Pete? Where do you suggest we go? It sure as hell isn't in this country, at least not with the current Congress or living here in the People's Republic of Maryland.

Okay I am a board member, My name is June and I am the Secretary. There is a lot you can do as a member. So can every member.

1. Come to a meeting, voice your concerns when you have the chance.
2. Read your Maryland Home Owners Act
3. Read CRE Covenants and Bylaws.
4. Join a committee

I realize that many people don't have time for this stuff. But if you are really concerned, you can make time to make just one meeting a month. Our President is trying to have regular Membership meetings on Saturdays. If we don't get a quorum then we have a regular meeting. If enough members come to the meeting on Saturdays, then we can have a membership meeting which allows you to make motions, debate and vote just like a board member. But we have to have a quorum to do it! PLEASE come to a meeting we need the members help to change things.
