Ok. question. my left shoulder has been really bothering me the last 2 days.. (I know, go see a dr..) but wanted to ask - someone mentioned a "rotator cuff" or bursitis (MS?) or a acrom??! something.. the pain is not up on top of the shoulder but more on the side of the shoulder .. hurts to move it certain ways.. any ideas? suggestions?!? TIA

Right now I have bursitis in both knees... I am being tested for Lyme because of it. :ohwell: They gave me a pretty harsh anti-inflammatory that made me puke up green bile. :yay:

My knees are less swollen but I feel like sh*t. :coffee:

I am sorry to hear about your shoulder but you really should see a doc before it gets any worse. :huggy:

Wife has pains like that, Dr told her it was tendonitis. She is going to ortho doc to get a second opinion.

Do you like apples?
JLS,
Probably best to go see the doc. Do you remember hurting it somehow or did it just start hurting on it's own? Feel better and good luck.

WR,
Sorry to hear about the knees. Hope you start feeling better and that you don't have Lyme. :huggy: Good luck.

Not knowing anything about you-age, physical condition, etc.-have you done anything strenuous like lifting a heavy object, cutting wood, playing sports...details please.
*My first “guess” would be rotator cuff.

It sounds similar to rotator cuff pain. It's painful to push or pull and some areas of rotation are painful others not. The pain is located on the side of the shoulder. There's not much to do about it aside from pain relief, anti-inflammatories and physical therapy. Surgery is usually a last resort.

Let us know what your doc said.

Thanks everybody.. I've noticed if I put my arm like - I was in a sling instead of leaving it straight - it doesn't hurt as bad.. if I just move from the elbow down - its not as painful... Thinking it happened the other morning when I had my purse, a bag, my Cricut machine and a box of something to mail out and my hot green tea - I overloaded..

Find another Orthopedic Doctor if what you say is true about him/her being Slice-N-Dice happy. I think you MIGHT need to see your Primary Care so that they can order Imaging before going to the Ohtho. As mentioned by another, Motrin can help a lot, if you aren't allergic, or have Asthma. Get better soon!!

Also, think a Chiropractor could help? my ortho surg is very surgery happy..

If you just very recently hurt it due to 'overload', every ortho I've ever talked to will tell you to rest it and wait a minimum of 3-4 weeks before going any further with diagnostics. Only if it still hurts after a 'recovery' period will they then proceed with other diagnostics.

The x-rays/MRIs are very important as it could be many things. I thought I had a rotator cuff issue, doc did too, until we got pictures back. It showed excess material on the acromium pressing downward into the joint causing all kinds of grief. I had an acromioplasty (sp?) and was only down for a week or so. Rotator cuff repair recovery can be lengthy.

But in any case, go see the ortho and see what he says. If you don't like it, there are plenty of good orthos around here.
