Shrooms in my pot

I have a plant here at the office that I rescued from the trash. I don't know what type of plant it is. It's one of the tropical looking plants that grow really tall on a single trunk w/ big green leaves. This one has been growing here for atleast 13 years. Guy that had it before me left it behind when he retired, as it was too large to move. He never trimmed it or in my opinion properly cared for it, just let it grow. At one time the trunk was over 10' long (plant got so top heavy the trunk fell over and it grew sideways), the roots grow out of the trunk every time it gets a new leaf (1 new root for each leaf), and he never pointed the roots at the pot, just let them grow wild. At one time, there were roots extending well over 30' from his cubicle.
Anyway, when they repainted here, the painters did not support the plant when they moved it, and the trunk broke. They then threw away the top of the plant. That is what I saved about 6 months ago. It is doing great in its new pot. I planted it in a Miracle Grow brand potting soil w/ a special makeup designed to hold more water than regular potting soil.

Went on vacation for a week, and when I came back, there were mushrooms growing in the pot with the plant. I have been pulling them up whenever I see them for the last week and a half. They just keep coming. I want them gone. Any recomendations on what to use? Needs to be something that doesn't smell due to it being in the office.

I figured the heading would get some attention.

Just thought about where the 'shrooms came from. We had a bad problem w/ flies here the week before I was at camp. Not normal house flies, BIG flies. Looked just like house flies, but atleast twice the size. Some were like 3x the size of a house fly. Maybe one of them brought in the spoors?

Re pot it using new soil?
This is relatively new soil, only a few months old. If I were to re-pot it, and any spores got into the new soil, I'd be in the same boat I am in now. Would like to treat the soil to kill the mushrooms, not the plant.
