SIgning the back of a Credit Card

I just received a replacement CC in the mail and tried to sign the darn thing, I tried every pen in the house and none would write on that strip on the back. Ive never had this problem before, I guess they switched to something better.....

Finally I whipped out the sharpie after I got tired of fooling with it.

I don't sign mine, I put check ID on mine.

I have a debit/credit card and I signed it when I first got it....I use it so much that the signature wore off....I think in the 5 years that I've had that card, I've had maybe 2 people notice that it wasn't signed and asked for ID :ohwell:

I learned the best trick ever! You put a piece of scotch tape on the signature strip, peel it off, then sign in ball point pen. It will never wear off after that. Isn't that weird? It works like a charm.

I suggest that you NOT sign the card. Put "SEE I.D." in the signature area. It's just an extra bit of security for you.

I do this on my cards, and I rarely get asked for my ID. Often times, the person behind the counter will look at the back and just swipe....... I'll ask..."hey are you going to ask for my ID??".. And they are like "oh...can I see ur ID????" I just look at them and say, "hey if It was stolen; I wouldn't have asked YOU if you were going to check my ID......

I always leave them with, hey imagine if someone stole your CC.........

I write "SEE ID" with a sharpie on the back of mine

Your card is not valid and can be refused

It works for me. Although, I have been told the Post Office won't accept it.

I write "Check ID" on the back of every card I own - the only place have been rejected is at the Post Office to buy stamps, but you can use is as a Debit Card. We actually got this tip from an American Express Customer Service agent when we were issued Corporate Cards and doing oversea travel a few years back.

Ok, so what if you write "check ID" on the card, use it, get asked for ID, and use another credit card that has "Check ID" on it ??

That would be my luck.

But I do remember WAY back when they passed the law where you cannot use a credit card for ID, they use to do this when you wrote a check, but stopped it after people were swiping the credit card numbers off of the checks the tellers were writing on it.

In My Opinion
only thing I carry is my debit card.
I have check ID on the back of that.

No credit cards get carried, If I dont have the cash for it, I must not have worked hard enough to own it.
