Silk vs Milk

No string cheese yet, he gets cheese in his scrambled eggs, I was afraid of the choking on the string cheese. Chase is off the bottle with one exception, he knows he gets one at bedtime and that's when I put the enfamil vitamin drops in it (they smell super fruity). I was actually going to make him a grilled cheese for the first time last night. We are still experimenting with food, up until a few weeks ago, we were doing all the Gerber graduate meals, until I realized I could do it much better, just had to make time for it. So now he gets most all his foods home made, w/ the exception of his fruit and yogurt. But they feed them soooo much food at daycare, like every 2 1/2 hours they are getting fed some sort of food or snack... I run out of healthy ideas !!!

My son loves grilled cheese . I am sure he would eat it everyday if I would let him. I rotate what he eats for lunch but he eats what we eat for dinner. those gerber meals are crap and taste like crap . My son never liked them and they are expensive as you know.

Yeah, I'm slow on the learning curve here. I don't have inlaws or any family to tell me "hey, why are you doing....such and such". I'm actually learning more from Chases teacher who has a son his age. But we're getting there. I got the shoes you recommended(I think it was you), the stride right and he wears them. The foods or lunches for daycare I try to rotate and make it at home and pack it all up. I usually have like 3 or 4 little tupperware bowls with lids, plus yogurt, nutrigrain bar, eggs for breakfast with mini pancakes. Then in his diaper bag we have veggi thins, goldfish, and graham crackers for snacks. And he usually eats what we eat for dinner, unless I"m lazy and make hamburger helper, like last night, and he had vegetable soup instead.

We tried our first grilled cheese last night. It was not a hit. Peanut butter sandwich, though? I tried doing a PB&J sandwich a couple days ago. As soon as his fingers got sticky he gave me the worst "WTF, mom?" look ever.

:killingme my son tried chocolate ice cream, (a tiny bit off daddys cone) and I think his world has changed. My husband eats those blue bunny chocolate ice cream cones like they're going out of style and Chase goes mental.

It's almond milk - not soy and is very beneficial for your health.

silk is soy milk. Almond milk is a hot topic too because of nut allergies so I don't know if it is allowed in daycare centers/schools etc

kale/greens are great sources of calcium and monster loves them. so is tahini, so I give her hummus with soft veggies..she loves to dip stuff and eat the dip off and then do it again, brat :killingme

Then there must be two Silk's. The only one I have ever seen is the almond milk.
Silk Pure Almond

And most kids have peanut allergies - which is actually a legume not a nut.

You are doing great! All we can do is the best we can and learn by trial and error! My son loves chicken salad sandwich as well !chicken celery and mayo. I never knew until he wanted a bite of my sandwich and ended up eating almost the entire thing! He is also recently insisting on using a spoon or fork to feed himself it is so cute he gets so excited. I just need to find a bowl or plate with a suction cup on the bottom so it doesn't move around the high chair. I need to start giving him more veggies! If they are in something he eats them but doesn't love them by themselves. I might have to try the dipping them idea.

Mine went through that and then seemed to stop =/ At least now he's eating most everything with his fingers, which was something he absolutely REFUSED to do before (unless it was a cracker or something else completely unsticky/messy/etc).

I figure when I get back to enforcing spoons and forks I'll just strip him down, put the giant canvas drop cloth I have handy underneath the high chair and let him go to town.

Or I'll just take him to visit his grandparents and let him practice there

We humans are the only mammal that continues to drink milk after we are weaned-it's all big business...cows milk is hard to digest, taking up to 8 hrs.

"NooOOoo Mommy! I DO IT!" Right?

To the contrary.....my Brother's First Birthday in '75. Mom wanted him to make a big mess; don't know why. Instead, Dad has a polaroid of him biting the cake on the plate "hands-free."

I wanted my son to make a mess. He got some frosting on his fingers and cried :( The rest of his cake was fed to him with a fork. :coffee:
