silver and gold

If I may ...

Buy, but never sell. Used only as an insurance policy against runway inflation, barter, trade, etc..
I tend to buy new silver dollars or small bars on occasion. I started in the eightys buying a few at the Greenbelt gunshows.
I sold all of it when it hit 34 bucks? Before moving back to indiana. I started buying again with the money I made selling a few years before. Gun show dealers have gotten stupid, ao I usually buy from my local bank or from posts online locally...

What kind of premiums are they charging?
Honestly ive never checked. I either order this or I pick it out of the case.
I dont believe im getting broken over by any means. Its something I buy and put it in a gun vault and forget about it. I have sold metals once since the middle eightys. I made about 30 bucks a coin cash.

I will be at one of them early next week, and I will have a quick talk with the manager and ask him.
My bestie just told me she thought the bank managers might be the sellers and not the bank.
I will find out.

I've bought silver bars and Morgan silver dollars for quite a while just as a hedge . I have never sold any, just something about holding a coin minted in Carson City !

To find the premium, just subtract the spot price from what they are charging:

Year ago, used to be around $1. I saw it $3+ lately. Problem is the dealers want to buy it back at spot. So they sell it to you at retail and buy it back at wholesale. Has to go up $3 just for you to break even. At least there is no sales tax on bullion. Best to resell to another consumer. You can undercut the dealer's premium a little and still make more profit.

And Charlotte (C), Dahlonega (D), and New Orleans (O), too, although the first two produced only gold coins.

If one wants 2022 American Silver Eagle coins, a bit $10 over spot.

For silver rounds, a bit over $4 per oz coin.

With some quick math with my bank man, it looks like i've been paying $2.50 to $4.00 depending on the volume I buy.
Its very convenient, local and no cash register tape...

Two local banks near me try to have some on hand, if not you can order it.
Some banks also have silver savings accounts.
Do you know for sure they are real because there are fakes out there and that is the reason I buy from dealers Modern coin mart, apmex, gov mint ...etc,etc

Those are for numismatic collectors. With the lowest price I could find, on Ebay, around $225, (the US Mint being sold out at $85), one could get about 8 oz in silver rounds, or about 6+ oz of the 2022 American Silver Eagles Brilliant Uncirculated. Not sure if there will be a fair market for those CC Morgans in a SHTF scenario since the Carson City mint hasn't produced any coins since 1893 . Not being critical, just practical. But if you can afford them, and just appreciate them for what they are, as a collector, hats off to acquiring one.

I get it,
I have always done modern coins, alot of the times what I buy come from a box that they get right from the mint. I tend to buy by the sleeve from them a few times a year. Im not J Paul Getty.
When I buy say from an unknown, I have a Dillon digital scale I use along with a magnet and do a drop "ring" test.
I have never seen a fake... If I saw one, I might buy one just to have it..

The scale I would believe tells all....
