How about a camera recommendation, hints, tips and/or tricks to have a good Skype experience?

Thanks

:buddies:

I bought a fairly inexpensive camera and have had no problems. Just downloaded the software and was up and running. I even signed up for group chat and my picture seems to be the better one out of me, my mom and my sis. Brand is Logitech or something like that.

If you and the person you want to talk with both have decent high speed network access, there are a number of low cost hi-def cameras now available. And by hi-def, I mean 1080p compatible. Use your HDTV as the display and you have an excellent system.

Tip: The best Skype experiences are the ones where the person on the other side of the conversation is a hot female wearing little to no clothing.

I would be interested in this, but being technically challeged have no clue. How does this work? Both parties sign up and have same capabilities, etc?

:howdy:I did that. I ain't all that bad.
Ya know, some people...

I don't know about the video calling - although I have a camera sitting in front of me waiting to be hooked up. I have used the voice phone numerous times and it can work pretty well. Call out like a regular phone; Skype-to-Skype is free. For a while, I had a local number so people could call in. With a fast, stable connection, it can be neat.

I'd love to do it with the grandkids, but not sure they have the necessary hookups. I'll have to check.

I never had good connections with Skype. How fast of a connection do you need for a clean video? I got a fairly new camera and the other party has the same exact camera but the video still laggs and its not clear.
Im on the metrocrap 7meg package.

There's the single most important component. I have not done the video chats, but I have voice chatted with a bunch of people... and once the connection slows everything goes to chit.

You must have forgotten he's married. :lmao:

What the Wife doesn't know won't hurt him.

I would suspect, since they work on different sides of the state, that he intends to use this FOR staying in touch with his wife.

Larry, if you check out the Skype site, there are a number of Skype-enabled TVs ready to go, with camera. Might be a better option than a cam on a PC.
