Thanks for posting those articles, Chuckster. I think most of us knew already that the gambling interests won't be satisfied with slots at the racetracks.

The problem is Tonio. most people don't hear about these things until it is to late. Some of those articles that I posted were from Las Vegas.
The other thing is some of our Delegates are thinking about expanding gambling before the slot are even approved. I saw what it did to Atlantic City and what it did to the communities close by. Not what I want for Maryland

So how have Delaware and West Virginia kept them from spreading beyond the tracks? Is it simply a matter of their legislators having the cojones to say no to the lobbyists?

Governor Ehrlich has decided to increase the scope of slots that will be used at racetracks contrary to the positions that he outlined on the campaign trail. His proposal includes nearly 3000 more slots than he advocated during the campaign according to the Sun.

Also just a question...Why didn't the governor approve the use of slots at ALL the racetracks and only a couple. In fact one the racetracks that is in his backyard won't have slots. Does he maybe question the social effects of slots as well? I just don't think that slots will end at the tracks. We will have casinos if slots come in.

Responding to local constituents, Erlich promised voters on the Eastern Shore campaign trail that he wouldn't propose slots for Ocean Downs near Berlin.
