Total outages: 16,675

Cause of outages in all counties: High winds, heavy rain, trees on lines, broken poles, downed lines, etc.

Calvert District
Number of customers affected: approximately 3,700
Replaced 6 of 12 broken poles. All feeders are on.
Areas affected: Chesapeake Ranch Estates, Calvert Beach, White Sands, Kings Landing, Coster Road, and Sollers Wharf Road.

Charles/Prince George's District
Number of customers affected: approximately 8,800 customers in Charles County; approximately 725 in Prince George's County
Replaced two poles and restored 12 to 15 downed lines. Only feeders in Accokeek and Cedarville are still out.
Areas affected: Marshall Corner, Faulkner, Forest Park, Bensville Road, Westlake, Ryceville, Grayton, Piscataway, St. Charles, Accokeek, Indian Head, Mason Springs, Brandywine, Cedarville, Tompkinsville, Newburg & Nanjemoy.

St. Mary's District
Number of customers affected: 3,450
Feeders at Valley Lee are still out.
Areas affected: Patuxent Park; Lexington Park, Ridge, Valley Lee, Piney Point, St. Andrews. Oakville, Milestown, St. James, Hollywood, Mechanicsville.

DRY ICE

As of 1 p.m., dry ice distribution points are closed for Saturday, September 20. Distribution locations for Sunday will be determined by the amount of dry ice available and the areas that are without power.

SMECO doubled its workforce prior to the storm, and the Co-op is now obtaining other assistance for service restoration. Currently, the Co-op has 397 field personnel and 133 crews in operation. During the night, service crews were dispatched to handle emergencies, transmission circuits, and priority feeders. As of 6 a.m. Friday morning, all crews were dispatched to complete system repairs. The Co-op also has assessment teams traveling throughout the service territory to assess system damage. SMECO is working diligently to make repairs; however, some customers may not have power restored for a few more days.

Notice how the number of outages has increased.. This means real progress... Really!

Areas affected: Dunkirk, Owings, Sunderland,Huntingtown, Pr. Frederick, Pt. Republic, St. Leonard, Lusby, and Solomons.

Charles/Prince George's District
Number of customers affected: approximately 8,500 customers in Charles County; approximately 650 in Prince George's County
Replaced six poles and restored 40 to 50 downed lines. All feeders are on.
Areas affected: Dentsville, Marshall Corner, Faulkner, Forest Park, Bensville Road, Westlake, Cobb Island, Ryceville, Grayton, Piscataway, St. Charles, Accokeek, Indian Head, Mason Springs, Brandywine, Cedarville, Tompkinsville, Newburg, Nanjemoy, Glymong, Issue, and Doncaster.

Areas affected: Finished restoring service to the majority of Golden Beach and Ryceville substation areas; however, scattered outages in these areas may remain. Great Mills, Lexington Park, Ridge, Valley Lee, Piney Point, St. Andrews, St. Inigoes, Dameron, Scotland, Hermanville, Oakville, Milestown, St. James, Hollywood, Mechanicsville.

Well, after 61 hours, our power is back on (White Plains, Billingsley Road).

I think I'll shower 3 times today and watch lots o' TV! :biggrin:

All feeders are on.
Areas affected: Outages are scattered throughout the entire district.

Charles/Prince George's District
Number of customers affected: approximately 8,100 customers in Charles County; approximately 600 in Prince George's County - We have replaced 6 poles and restored 40 to 50 downed lines.

St. Mary's District
Number of customers affected: approximately 7,000 - We have restored 50 to 60 spans of wire, 12 poles, and 60 crossarms. Restoration is slow because of extensive damage to tap lines.

Dry Ice
Dry ice is being distributed in the following locations while supplies last:

Calvert County-Prince Frederick and Solomons Island volunteer fire departments;

Charles/P.G. counties-Piccowaxen School and La Plata Wal Mart, and Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department (will start between 12 and 12:30 p.m.)

St. Mary's County-Ridge and Valley Lee volunteer fire departments; Chopticon High School, and California Wal Mart.
