I get pissed when I find something way cheaper on Amazon without Prime, even with shipping charges. I'm like "Soooo, how is Prime saving me money??" And if people start buying something in mass quantity on Prime that's large and heavy, Amazon will arbitrarily discontinue Prime shipping on it.

I always look at the other options from other vendors that aren't Prime to find the best deal. Most of the time it ends up being Prime, for what I order.

I have bought furniture and super heavy stuff from Overstock because of flat rate shipping.

I LOVE online shopping!

I've not ever encountered that. :ohwell: I do always compare the offerings without prime and what their shipping is, but it always seems to work out better for me with the one selling under prime. Also found something I would normally buy from Sephora for $60 on Amazon (with prime shipping) for $25. :yahoo:

I am the target individual for Amazon. They have me in their clutches. I have a couple Kindles and do the streaming, and even the credit card so I can build up Amazon points.

I think it's pretty easy to compare prices with and without prime. I don't mind that there are some price differences because, in my experience, it doesn't happen often and the prices are usually close enough that it comes down to how long I am willing to wait.

I buy a lot of stuff off amazon, though. A LOT. It comes out to like $8.25/month for nearly unlimited 2-day shipping after the price increase. I'm down with that.

I have no problem renewing. One of the items was my 60 inch LG Plasma TV. Was a PRIME Item...Free Shipping etc. Was worth the membership for the next few years for the savings I got. So no issues with an increase!

No I am not prime. I don't buy enough to make it worth it. One item I ordered 3 weeks ago came in yesterday with Chinese writing on it post marked Phuk-a-Duk. OEM to consumer shipping. I had a mental picture of them rousting 2 kids out of their tar paper hut "Geh going, we have ordah!"

I sign up for a trial period, then cancel when it comes time when you have to pay for the service. Then a month or so later they offer the trial again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I dont get how this is a deal unless you stream a lot and it is a deal for that??

Ive bought digital music - lets say $5 for an album- I download and burn it- I find $5 to be fair. Most of the time when I order books and other stuff I order enough to qualify for free shipping - $50, I think is the free shipping sweet spot on most items I order.

If I ordered 10x a year- thats about 8 bucks in shipping if I paid for prime. I normally get free shipping or pay less than 8. I dont order more than 5 or 6 times a year from them.

I am either not their target customer or I am missing something so great about prime. Is it all in the streaming and kindle purchases? Is that where it becomes worth it?

And yet you and the rest of the Tea Party morons will cut and past posts almost daily about economic issues complaining about lack of jobs and slow growth. Then you make your purchases from overseas companies thru Amazon?

Nah...you and the rest of the looney tune tin foil hatted crowd aren't a bunch of hypocrites...are ya?

hey sweetie, if I purchase the $ 20 dollar iPhone cable from Apple, it is still manufactured in CHINA ....

If we made anything here in this country anymore it might be a case of hypocrisy. As it is it would be hard to survive on Crayola Crayons while wearing nothing but a Stetson and Chippewa boots.

One way to avoid the price hike for another year is to purchase a gift prime subscription. You pay today's rate, then you have a year to activate it.
