I usually stop if there's furniture. It's been my observation that people selling furniture are also selling items that I'm interested in. For the most part I'm just browsing and looking for strange little kitschy items, so I prefer thrift stores for that. I don't want to get up at 6 on a Saturday to hit the yard sales.

Where my dad lives, in TN, yard sales are an art form. I wish we had yard sales (and flea markets) like they do where I live.

A deceitful trick I'm ashamed to admit I've done....but it works great......pull out your expensive riding mower, or rototiller, or lawn mover and put a big $10 sign on it near the street.........Everyone who sees it will stop. Just tell them it was sold when they ask, but while they're here they always look at everything else.......Sneaky bad huh?

You know something, I don't do yard sales. And the weird part is I don't know why. I am sure some good things are out there, at really good prices. I just can't bring myself to pull over. That's it! New goal for myself, " stop at next yard sale and at least look around".
