Is Tri County a shelter? We are new to the area and are looking for a family pet.

Yes, Tri Cty is an animal shelter located off of Rt 231 near Hughesville. If you do a Petfinder Search and put in a local zip code (like 20650), you can pull up local rescues and the shelter comes up as well. They have alot of great dogs according to some of the staff, and they are really overloaded right now.

happy to be living
Tri County even has three very pretty, young cockatiels for only $5 adoption fee per bird.

Someone called here last weekend saying they had to get rid of 14 cockatiels. I tried finding small bird rescues with no luck and suggested tri county. She was afraid they'd be euthanized. I am glad to know they take them and adopt them out. I wonder if they came from the same person? She was keeping some of the birds but couldn't afford to keep them all.

Probably did, if you go to their page and look at the birds, it would seem so. I h ave two, one is a rescue. I love them but more than two would be LOUD.

tri county

A general question - do y'all think a member of a rescue would have more info on a dog's temperament instead of an employee/volunteer at a shelter or would it be a "depends on the situation" situation?

Rescues will know their animals temperament. That's part of what differentiates rescues and shelters. Rescues can take the time to learn about their dogs so they can relay more info-personality, housebreaking status, energy level, obedience training, etc.

Shelters unfortunately don't have the time, man power, or financial resources to keep up on all that.

Do you have any info on the standard poodle?

Hi Cowgirl:howdy:

He is pretty big for his age. Groomer says he still has his puppy hair, very matted. Heard he was kept outside and he looks like it. There is a very handsome pup under all that hair. I can't get him groomed yet, he has kennel cough and his eyes have some infection right now. And he has a super personality!!! He will make a wonderful family pet.

Adopt me please !
Almost every time I go there I see an abundance of beagles - crazy that the breeders keep breeding them over and over. I feel so bad for them as many of them are put down.

We have a few large bags of bedding to get to Tri-County but I haven't had time to go there. Does anyone live or pass through the Brandywine area that could pick up the bags of bedding and drop them at Tri-County for us? The temps are going below freezing again tonight and it sure would help if the bedding could get there this week.
