So Much for Freedom of Speech

Using extreme profanity in a public place is a disturbance on its own. I would have no problem with it being against the law to act uncivilized in public, with a fine or even the gas chamber for punishment.

Not all that long ago if you dared to swear like that in front of a man's wife and family you would have gotten your ass beat. No store would have served you; no restaurant would allow you to stay. Society is broken, everyone is afraid to stand up to these thugs. Good on ya Officer Somerville!

I think officer Somerville did the right thing, too many jerkoffs who think they
have the right to act stupid. Should have tasered him for good measure, but that's just my opinion.

I've always believed the old hickory shampoo had more of an impression than the taser in situations like this.

Officer Somerville is a fine man and a good police officer, he is also congenial and it takes a lot to piss him off. Evidently this POS found the right button to push. Officer Somerville is also a hulking big man and this kid is lucky he got arrested and didnt get a good azz whipping.

For the same reason this forum (privately owned in a public place) is allowed to regulate what words are allowed and what's not, so is such language in a privately owned establishment in a public place. I'm not really sure why this concept is so hard to understand.

The whole argument of free speech has gotten muddied by the anything-goes crowd that there is no responsibility in your actions.

I agree with you 100%. seems the art of language has been given up by the younger generation. Now they only speak profanity! If it doesn't contain at least one big F, then it must not be worth saying. I wish the parents would go back to the old bar of soap...that works great when rubbed on the teeth. Glad I'm not raising kids nowdays, they would be dead or I would be in jail.:hot::buttkick:

I wouldn't have any problem with it being against the law either, but unfortunately extreme profanity in public is not. Having said that, usually when one is using extreme profanity, it is being done in a loud disorderly manner.

Sorry, you have no idea who I am or what I do. You my friend don't have the capacity to understand what I do, or how I do it. You would rather just bash police officers who are trying to preserve the peace.

One of the individuals identified as Christopher Bradley Johnson, 23 of Lusby, stated to Sdfc. Somerville he could curse if he wanted to. Several customers were inside of the business and stopped to observe Christopher Johnson’s actions and language.

Oh no he di-n't!! Well, I guess he found out otherwise.

I am...

...all for officers of the peace keeping the peace. Would have been nice if some citizens backed the officer, their officer, up and at least broke into applause when he locked this 'adult' up.

This oughta be like a $50-100 fine and if that doesn't work, take away his xbox.
