The news this morning said that as it was passing through Paris there were people protesting about the Olympics being in China and they tried to grab the torch. Supposedly security had to put it out. I was walking out the door when they started talking about it.

that was the whole concept I thought - to light it in one area, and have it go to distance - heck might as well ship it overnight at this point.

When I was in High school I carried the Olympic torch! I'm from Lake Placid, NY so it always came through there. That little bugger is heavy! Maybe they dropped it and it went out so they needed a cover story?!
