So who watched Kerry's speech last night

Can I be "Secretary On Da Fence"? That way, I wouldn't have to do anything yet I'd be pleasing everybody.

There were two things from the speech that I really didn't like.

First, he wants to balance the budget by raising taxes. Ok, I think it's the wrong direction (I'm for cutting spending), but it's one way to go. Then he ended by saying something like "then we'll have money to spend on X, Y, and Z". Spending more hurts your attempts to balance the budget. Maybe he didn't learn simple math at Yale.

Second, he made a big deal that we didn't have a plan to "win the peace" in Iraq. His solution? Get foreign troops in there. That alone tells me that he does not understand the problem at all. Foreign troops will not pacify the people we are fighting. They hate everyone and will try to kill anyone. Why is that so difficult to understand?

See. That is the odd part. They aren't mostly killing Americans or foreigners over there. THEY ARE KILLING IRAQ CIVILIANS the most.

That 60+ dead the other day? Civilians of Iraq.

Bounce or Blip?

CNN/USA poll showed Likely voters being 50% to 48% FOR Bush!
And after the speech...get this...Republican voters appear to have been stirred up more to vote for Bush.

It is possible that the typical bounce after a convention may be the smallest & shortest in decades.

So much for the "Great Speech!"
We will see if Bush has a similar "blip."
PREDICTION: Post RNC convention:
*Protesters get a lot of press and that naturally stirs people NOT in sympathy with them but AGAINST them.
*Bush's numbers will clime to 5-7% ahead of Kerry in likely voters.
*"Battle States will still be in question since Kerry will suspend media blitz until September and that strategy may flop since most have already made up their minds.
*Debates will get a LOT of BUZZ by the media because they know a close race gets more people tuning in, so if they see a Kerry slide...they will jump in to boost him even more.

A Salute From Kerry Is A Study In Abstract Humor

"Kerry probably hasn’t thrown a real salute for decades. I really don’t think the Democratic idea of pretending Kerry just got discharged from Vietnam last year and is now running for office is going to work very well. I’m sure some people still remember he was a Senator."

"Is a navel officer one that spends too much time in self-reflection?"

Oh yeah, did anybody watch the "John Kerry movie" before the speech? There were some interesting omissions. They left out his education at the Swiss boarding school, any information about his first wife, and the minor detail of the two decades as a Senator.

Also, there was the film footage from Vietnam. They have been accused of staging some of the footage. I'm not saying that's true, but watching the footage did leave me with some questions regarding its authenticity. First, while under fire, why didn't the cameraman put down the camera and pick up a gun (keep in mind that the cameraman was a soldier, not a reporter). Second, why did the rounds land in the water so short of the boat? Were the Vietnamese that bad at aiming that their shots land 100ft from the target (a boat)?

 Well if they don't win in Nov., Mssrs. Kerry and Edwards can still put together a movie deal with Hollywood:
Swiftboat Captain And Crew

Rest assured, the cast is a fabulous bunch. They'll make a killing off this flick!
