So why am I supposed to care about Taiwan?

I understand I'm being pressured to "stand with Taiwan" like I'm supposed to "stand with Ukraine", but why? What has Taiwan ever done for me and how is it in our national interest to "stand with" them?

I'm contrary like that. I could think, "Oh, this is a thing...." but when the bots jump on the bandwagon I realize it was just manipulation bullshit manufactured to distract me or make me align myself with something reprehensible, and I reject it.

It's like all those tear-jerker movies - I laugh in their face right out loud and don't care who hears me. I loathe being manipulated.

So why should I care about Taiwan? Or Ukraine, for that matter?

Not quickly, and not cheaply. Intel are mostly made here, Global Foundary (used to be AMD) still makes some stuff. Literally none of the top of the line processes.

The biggest issue is that the most advanced chips all require equipment from one manufacurer to build them (ASML), and their output is severely limited. So even if they could build the multi-billion dollar chip fabs overnight, they wouldn't have the equipment to put in it to make the chips for many years.

China has a very well defined, long-view official goal to take over total control of Hong Kong, Taiwan, various island groups in the region, Japan, etc etc. We should just let them. What could possibly go wrong?

Yes. We now make nothing the world wants other than exporting our inflation, our energy and natural resources, and bombs and bullets. In addition, the way our education system is currently, there is no way such a facility could be staffed. And if there were to be built such a facility, the H-1B visa program would need to be substantially increased to import the required amount of educated people. Btw, Taiwan is also a buffer State between Japan. Just like Ukraine is, was, supposed to be a buffer State between Russia and NATO member nations.

Ah yes, when you don't have a clue what is going on around you, go for the party hack position. But to that point, I recall a time when the Republican party claimed to be the party of business and free trade. What happened?

Further, it's not regulations that push it right along. Rather, it is the *removal* of regulation (kinda sounds like deregulation - remember a party that used to claim they were for that too?) that restores the right of free association. The ability to conduct business with parties when you strike a mutually beneficial agreement. You see, free association of that nature is the natural state of free humans. Any government rules put in place to restrict that is a violation of the natural rights of man. I have no idea why you people freak out when companies cross national borders to conduct business.

Actually, I do know: people like you have done nothing but leach off of government your entire life.
