My 6 year old son has been begging me for a cat. I've never owned a cat but am considering it for him. I'm apprehensive due to the shedding, the clawing of furniture, spraying, etc.

Any advice or input? TIA

Thanks! I'm working under the assumption that I'd need one who is used to kids or that cat is going to be in for a world of shock.

A spay/neutered, declawed hairless cat.

:yay:

funny that some think that hairless cats are easier than the other are so wrong. Hairless cats require way more grooming attention as they do need to be bathed weekly and all the cracks and crevices need to be wiped out :jet:

and as they are from a genetic mutation they seem to have some issues with dental disease...

but they are very cool cats :yay: (but still for those who are allergic to cats need to know they still produce dander :jerry:)

my coworker had two.. and they were the coolest cats ever... always under the covers :killingme

I was checking out the Tri County Animal Shelter too. I'd like to adopt one.

Dougy is your man! He is front de-clawed, and you can tell by his picture he is very loving! Good on you for wanting to adopt, and this month you can adopt for next to nothing. They come spayed/neutered, chipped, and with immunizations. Ya can't beat that!!
