What we can learn is that millions of Americans just wish they had some sort of health coverage that they could complain about.

Many can afford the coverage and in the true spirit of America, choose not to purchase.

I don't believe I should pay for coverage for someone who doesn't want to pay for the coverage which they can afford or too lazy to work.

I don't believe I should pay for coverage for someone who doesn't want to pay for the coverage which they can afford or too lazy to work.

I agree with here; however, there are also those who work their as*es off and want to purchase health insurance yet there are no affordable options available to them.

Well maybe instead of trying to offer free coverage that you and I have to pay for we should be looking at ways to keep the cost of health care coverage to an affordable level. Maybe by going after the insurance companies and limiting the payout amounts in libel cases.
To take it out of my pocket by force to give to someone who wont work for it is robbery!

I'm still hurting from that raping. My brother-in-law and I were talking about this problem recently. Something he mentioned made sense. What if the U.S. Government negotiated health care insurance as one big group policy for the citizens who can't afford it otherwise. It would bring the price down with so many folks in the plan. Those who can't afford it still get health care when they go to the emergency rooms anyhow.

There's no authority in the Constitution for federal government health insurance. If states or local areas wish to do this, it's up to them (us).

However, I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of those Americans without health care coverage have a car more expensive than they need, cable TV, and eat out at least once a week. It's a choice of what people wish to spend their money on more than anything else.

The health care they get isnt FREE its paid for by the rest of us.

They know that. As long as THEY aren't paying for it, they want it. however the joke's on them. If they make any kind of money, their tax dollars will fund this. And if they don't make any kind of money, they'll get their "free" healthcare and we'll see how much they like it.

Good question. I pay $870/year for Tricare Prime family coverage. No dental. Offered as part of retired military compensation package.

My brother-in-law (who I mentioned earlier) pays $1,700/month. (ouch!) That's private insurance not offered by his employer.

It would have to be a governemnt entity.. and then it would be governed just like SSI and the Post Office.

What he was saying is have the government negotiate for a group policy. Whatever company gave the best coverage for the money would get the government's business. Maybe, sorta like a defense contract. Didn't sound too bad at the time, but I already drank a six pack by then.
