Looks like they have it shut down

Not sure what happened but I called someone who was sitting 5 cars from the bridge and he said the cops have it shut down. I just turned around and came back home. Glad I don't live in Calvert!

It sounds lime they are looking for a vehicle on 235 not sure where. A while ago I heard something about an ambulance.

Still nothing about the bridge.

I have no idea what happened yesterday, but I wish to god that people would have a damned clue, and NOT enter an intersection unless it is clear on the other side. Just because the light is green, that doesn't give you the right to sit in the middle of the intersection and block traffic from all directions.

I sat at the 235/4 light last night for a half hour, trying to turn left from 4N to 235N, because ignorant #######s blocked the intersection. It was fun, though, listening to a northbound 18-wheeler lay on his horn for a full 5 minutes right next to one of the aforementioned ignorant #######s. :killingme That horn blared through 4 light cycles.

I have noticed that people are starting to be more conscious of gridlock and not proceeding into an intersection unless there is room, but the ones that do still screw it all up.

Did you get a look at the face of the idjit the truck was blaring at?? I'll bet s/he was sweating....

Still nothing reported on the Solomons bridge...

Does anyone know anything about the closing of the Solomons bridge yesterday yet? I am shocked that there is still no word. SOMD has nothing, the Bay Net has nothing.

ugh....

Had to turn around and drive up 235 to Mechanicsville over towards Benedict to Prince Frederick and then down to Solomons. What should have taken 10 minutes to get home took 1 1/2 hours. The state really needs to do something about this bridge situation. Make it 4 lanes and there is no reason it needs to be that high. No ships that tall.

Studies and town hall meetings (next one in October) are in the works with some environmental impact investigations. Anyone that lives in around the Rt 4/bridge corridor has already received information from the SHA. Also, part of the studies, is options for improving the rt 235/rt 4 intersection.

Go to the SHA's website for details, but don't expect results for years!

I'll be retired and gone by the time they do something about the bridge.

Thanks for the info - I will probably be gone as well;0)

Took me an hour and 20 minutes to drive the 15 miles from work to home. When I finally got to the calvert side of the bridge there was a cop car, a car with a banged up front end, and a tow truck on the shoulder of 4 north just past the bridge. So can only assume an accident. MOST of these bridge accidents don't look to be that bad and IMO they (meaning the people involved, cops, rescue workers, etc.) over react and shut everythign down when they should just move the #### off the bridge and deal with it on the side of the road. A few weeks ago they were towing 2 cars off the bridge that you wouldn't have even known they had a fender bender by the looks of the cars while driving by.

On to my real rant on this subject:

WHY do you stupid people in the right turning lane, who have been sitting and waiting your turn since the light at Kmart or before that in some cases, let all the A$$HATS-who just drive on up to right before the turn onto 4-in front of you? You do realize that if YOU and the rest of the do-gooders woulnd't let in every car that pulls up in front of you then traffic wouldn't be near as jacked up as it is. After all, these A$$HATS waited NO MINUTES IN LINE so why should they be priviledged and just slip on in when they get to the turn? Last week I rolled down my window and told a lady in her Mercedes SUV who tried to bully her way in front of me by doing the "inch up right to the front quarter panel of my car" thing, that she was gonna have to hit my car to get in front of me - but she could go right ahead because I'd like to have a new car. F those people - 90 percent of them have a f'n base sticker on the front windshield of their car so they KNOW the drill...MAYBE if I saw out of state tags and no base sticker I'd let someone in...but NOT those "my time is WAY more important than your's so I'm just gonna get in front of you" F**KERS!

I wasn't close enough to see, but I'd guess you're right. I was half expecting somebody to get out of the car & start yelling, but it didn't happen. I think the only reason the trucker got off the horn was that it started to fail - he was on it so long, the sound was getting weaker.

Sadly, if no one lets them in, they'll just skip the turn lane altogether, and make a sharp right from 235 on to 4 north. That's where most of the gridlock that I was talking about came from - those people were blocking those of us coming from St. Andrew's.

It's all a mess, no matter which angle you look at it.
