Solomons Restaurant to be featured on America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in mid-May 2024

SOLOMONS: – Local restaurant No Thyme To Cook will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in mid-May 2024.

America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on May 17th. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Gwyn Novak about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

No Thyme To Cook opened in its present location in 2018 and is a nearly 4000-square-foot building with two floors of demonstration kitchens. The land originally was owned by Novak’s great-grandfather, Mortimer Bowen, who built an inn on the property in 1918 which, according to their website, was frequented by many congressional and sports figures out of Washington DC. The inn burned down in 2005.

Novak is the fourth generation to operate a hospitality business on the land, and she is a graduate of the Baltimore International Culinary College, a published cookbook author, and has owned and operated No Thyme To Cook since 1999. The business began as a personal chef service but expanded into cooking classes and events.

No Thyme To Cook offers public and private cooking classes, with themes from knife skills to tapas to dinner-and-a-movie gourmet meals based on a theme from a popular film. They also offer space for ‘micro weddings’, corporate retreats, and private events. The top floor of the venue is an Airbnb, called the ‘Chef’s Loft’.

“I'm so proud of what we've created here at No Thyme to Cook,” Novak says. “It's so much more than your typical night out - it's about really fun, creative culinary experiences. You leave having learned new skills in the kitchen, eaten some pretty great food, and made new friends.”

Popular items that may be featured on the episode include a Maryland crab cake with spicy remoulade sauce; fresh handmade pasta with grilled chicken & a Meyer lemon cream sauce, macarons, and a spicy salmon sushi roll.

America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Friday May 17th from 2 pm to 5 pm EST. The press is invited to attend. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website.
